We have been making some changes to the forum so that those who are forum supporters, no longer have to see any advertisements when they are logged in.

We want to make sure these changes are working properly.

If you are a forum supporter (that means you have the orange band across your avatar) you should no longer be able to see any advertisements in the sidebar when you are logged in to the forum.

Please let us know if that is not the case. So - if you are a forum supporter and CAN see adverts (that does not include my books), please shout so that we can fix it.

If you are NOT a forum supporter, you will still see adverts. If you don’t want to see any adverts, you can upgrade to forum supporter membership for £10 /$12.50 per annum. Supporters also get access to the media library and can upload images directly to the forum.

Don’t forget, let us know if you think the new system isn’t working properly

    Thanks!

    Pippa

Very odd, since you have made these changes I now have adverts across the page as well as down the side which is doubly annoying :(

I don't understand why they now are across the page?

Most people now view the forum on mobile and sidebar ads don't really work on mobile phones. That's the main reason for the change.

Thanks for the explanation Pippa. I guess I'm in the minority and it's your forum :) x

I doubt if you are in the minority - and I totally sympathise. None of us likes to look at ads.

But they do generate a small income which enables me to keep this forum running. Which I think, on balance, is a good thing. :)

If there are any forum supporters that can see the ads, please do let me know. We want to make sure the new system is running smoothly.

No ads here either. But I don't really remember seeing ads before I signed up as a supporter either, so maybe they don't pop up if using Mac Safari.

Agree with @JulieT , either way the £10 is worth it. :)

My Macbook safari browser blocks them too, even though I have set it not to. I have to use google chrome to see what they look like :)

I can see the ads on Mac Safari if I log out and look at threads.

Laptop - a Mac book pro and Safari 9.0.2. I can't see the ads when I'm logged in, but can when I'm logged out.

I don't think I have ever seen ads on my mobile version on Android.
Have never had the ad after the third post.
Neither on my laptop on chrome.
I am always logged in though. Must try without....

No ads here. Use only Safari with latest version 10.0.1. Should note that I also use the free version of AdBlock. Never see ads on any site.

The ads have just appeared today for me (on Android atm). If it gets too annoying I'll upgrade my membership, otherwise you bring in those sweet, sweet advertising dollars, Pippa :D

I don't use the my phone to surf cyber space, screens are too small for my old eyes, I use my desktop and laptop, so I have full screen viewing (using Chrome), other than 3 book ads on the right side I don't see any ads here. Of course I use an ad blocker so I normally won't see any.
