    Hello all,

We are going to pick our 1st Labrador puppy up tomorrow and our 2 boys couldn't be more excited as they have wanted a dog for a while now.

I'm sure I will be on here a fair amount asking questions to start with but then as I gain xp with our dog then I will hopefully be able to pass this on to others. I will post a pic of him when we get him.

Ah, I remember the excitement when we got Molly and I am a long way from a child.

Puppies sometimes don't travel too well, wear old clothes, take newspaper and old towels with you.

I did, and didn't need any of it

Happy days and when your boys are too excited to sleep tonight join in the fun.

Oooh, I visit Hampshire when I'm in the UK because my business partners are both based there, just outside Portsmouth.

Welcome to the forum from me, Willow and Shadow. Time flies, so make sure you take lots (and lots and lots) of pictures :)

Hi and welcome from me and Juno, my chocolate girl. Tell us more about you new up. What's his name, what colour - and we love puppy photos. Information for uploading photos is here

My tip for bringing him home would be to make sure you have some water with you together with some wet wipes, just in case. As Tina says we prepare but rarely need any of the towels etc but always best to be prepared. I don't know if you have read it yet or not but if not Pippa's book The Happy Handbook is great to read and have at hand for help and guidance. It's full of information and advice which really does work.

Hi and welcome from me and 2.5 year old fox red girl, Harley

I second getting a copy of the 'Happy Puppy Book' - it has got so much valuable information.

How old are your boys? Might be worth teaching them how to stand still when puppy starts nipping when excited and give them some basic commands they can teach the pup.

Look forward to hearing more about your pup and family

Hi and welcome, can't wait to see a photo of your puppy. My first dog is Dexter, he's 8 months old now and has changed my life and enriched it so much. Yep, I've had my share of difficulties with having a puppy but you're in great hands with people on this forum, everyone is so helpful and supportive.
I wonder how much sleep you'll get tonight, I was so excited I didn't sleep much good job it all happened in 3 days for us  although we had planned on having a dog for a long time :D.

...and Pongo's mum is embarrassed re-reading this and realising that of course Newbury is in Berkshire not Hampshire... but she is hoping that nobody will have noticed....
