hello all hoping some advice please I posted recently Murphy had very slight limp after lying resting but on / off and only lasted for seconds then seemed absolutely fine !! Took him to vets today for general health check and be weighed and wormed !! Mentioned his limp to vet she checked him all over stretching his legs out he didn't seem bother said he does have wobble walk but some labs do so will keep eye on him !! I am now worried sick he has problem with his hips as been reading up on it and he does bunny hop which says Is sign but he has always done that !! He is only just 17 wks old !! Also he weighed 15kilos does that sound normal weight for pup he is a big lab!! X

You must be worried, any dog limping worries loving owners. It is pointless telling you not to worry - it's impossible!

But all you can do is keep a close eye on him, and take him back to the vet if he limps again and push for it to be investigated. Never ignore things like this (obviously that's the last thing you'll do!) because early intervention is always the most successful if something is wrong.

It probably isn't anything terrible though, most limps turn out not to be, and pups do have growing pains! Best wishes to you, and I hope he doesn't limp again and you can just relax.

It's not possible to say whether 15kgs is right or not, they are all so very different. Just make sure your puppy stays slim, that's the very best thing you can do for him.

    Don't worry @Kelhump
Bunny hopping isn't any indication of HD - we have discussed this on the forum before - both dogs with good hips and HD bunny hop, its not a reliable sign.
If your vet is happy so far, don't go looking for problems at this stage, take it easy, and keep in touch with the vet, if it is continuing they should arrange for further tests.
It is a worry, but it isn't the end of the world, honest.

Just another thing that owners can mistakenly think is a problem: It is also normal for Labradors to walk or trot along using both legs on the same side together - so the two right legs (front and back) go forwards together then the two left legs go forwards together. That's not the textbook way to walk or trot, but it's kind of an energy saving way of moving and it's totally normal. It doesn't indicate any joint problems.

Lots of us (me included) have had a scare with a limp in a young dog and mostly it's turned out to be nothing. So, definitely keep an eye on it but don't obsess about it. He's just a baby and is learning to use his rapidly growing legs :)

I am worried and making myself worse reading stuff on net so must stop lol the limp is literally for seconds after he gets up now and then vet told me keep walking him for his 20 mins a day gradually build up so hoping it is just growing pains or something ! Think I'm just extra worried to as lost my choccy lab aged 13 in Deceember who had 3 cruciate operations ( none which worked) and took me lot to have another pup so when seen Murphy limping I'm really worried oh says not worry but I can't help it !! And are controlling his food he has waiste so not to worried X thanks for replays tho !! X

Nothing to add to comments already made. The vet was happy with him so try not to worry too much, and as Julie T says, keep him slim as that's the best you can do for his growing joints.

oh, and stop googling symptoms on the internet. It really is the very worst thing you can do when you're worried about your pup, you only ever read the very worst diagnosis - I know been there and done that

Yes they do worry us, these adorable puppies and dogs. Definitely stay off google, if you have a concern better to voice it on here and with your vet.
I hope the limping stops and you can reset your calmness button, well almost if those puppy teeth allow it, they hurt
