It's been about three months since Kali, my dearest black lab, left me. Kali lived a very adventurous, rambunctious and vigorous life. She was always a rock, having moved to 4 different homes, seeing different parts of the country, and never meeting a stranger. She loved her rides and daily routine, and I miss her terribly. Kali thought me so much; How to be kind, tolerant, patient, and above all, accepting of others. I thank God for loaning her to me as long as He did.

Since Kali moved on, I've brought a yellow lab (Daisy) into my life. I don't look at Daisy as a replacement for Kali - as we all know, our labrador friends can never be replaced - but as a successor. She's a new friend to whom I am showing a whole new world. It's exciting to see her explore and learn so much. Daisy has also changed my lifestyle. I went from nursing an old lab to running after a puppy. But to be honest, I would have continued nursing Kali for another decade if it would've kept her with me.

I'm in no way anxious for my own demise, but when the time comes, I know Kali will be the one I look most forward to seeing again.

As a side note, please be careful what you feed your friend. I have a strong suspicion that some of the garbage that I thought was a premium food that i fed Kali years ago contributed to her spleen cancer. Please, if you love your dog, take great care and read where the food really comes from. Do your research and make sure the preservatives are natural, and that the food comes from a manufacturer that cares more about your dog than profit. You may pay more, but aren't labs worth it?

Hello, and welcome to the forum - and I'm so very, very sorry for your loss of your much loved dog. :( It must still be very painful, but I hope that Daisy brings you joy. Of course nothing will replace Kali, but it's just another chapter with Daisy.

Welcome to you and to Daisy. I'm sorry to hear that you lost your much-loved Kali. Each of our dogs (and other pets) have a special place in our lives and in our hearts, so of course Kali could never be replaced and you will keep those memories of her for ever.

I hope Daisy brings you much happiness and fun, although I'm sure she'll be hard work too!
