I just got a black lab puppy for my birthday about a month ago . He is just turned three months. When I go him, his ears were down, but gradually one ear would stand tall while the other was down , then it would switch. But they would go back to normal and be down wards.

I went out of the country for 2 weeks , and didnt take him with me. I recently came back a few days ago and now he has both of them up and they arent going down.

I just want to know if thats normal. Im a first time mom , and Im worrying all the time about Rocco and I have taken him to the vet , and he did get puppy strangles but has recovered from it , so I have no idea what to think.

Please help!I would be so greatful, and so would Rocco.

( P.S. My sister got the picture of his parents and they both are Labs, and their ears are down.)

Hello there, and welcome to the forum.

There is a lot of variety when it comes to labs - some more working type labs look totally different to show types - body shape, head shape, tails, ears.....
And of course they do change a lot when they are growing as puppies.

Do you have papers for your puppy? Just seeing "parents" is no guarantee when it comes to some breeders.
I am sure that after 4 weeks you have formed a nice bond with your puppy so what his ears look like probably doesn't matter too much right now - I bet you are glad to be home to see him!

So glad to hear he made a good recovery from the puppy strangles (I think that is a skin infection?) - it sounds like your little one has had a lot to contend with in his short life already.

We would love to see a photo of your boy if you can manage. There is some information in the Technical & help section to help you do this (it needs to be through a photo host site like Flickr or Photobucket for example)

Hello there, and a very warm welcome to the forum.

Don't worry about your dog's ears. :) Dog ears come in all shapes and sizes, and whatever ears your dog has you should love them all the same. So long as the vet thinks all is well, and your pup is healthy, there is no problem. So your pup has sticky up ears - I bet they are super cute. :)
