    Hi All!

Just two more sleeps until we get Rolo now. Was sad we couldn't get him Saturday but now looking forward to it!

I am conscious that it will be quite close to bonfire night in the UK just about 5 weeks after we get him. Has anyone any tips for protecting them from the loud noises etc, keeping them feeling safe?
They start letting fireworks off pretty early round my area. (annoying)

    Thank you :)

My two aren't bothered by fireworks, but if you're concerned, I'd start in advance, playing fireworks noises on my computer (or, even better, TV with a good sound system), starting off really quietly and only increasing the volume when he doesn't react to the lower levels. You can pair the noise of fireworks with playtime, great treats or meals, too, to make the associations good.

I was going to say the opposite I'm a bit worried about fireworks as my pup will be just getting to the age where they are less accepting of new experiences.

She has been exposed to whizzy bikes, noisy buses and nothing has fazed her yet. Except a duck, she was scared of a duck! Haha

None of my previous dogs have so much as blinked at fireworks but I suspect things will be different with Molly (5.5 months) Although fairly bold about most things she has shown signs of being scared of bangs and other unexpected loud noises.
Snowbunny's advice is good as always and I've also heard others suggest closing curtains, turning the telly/radio up a little louder in an effort to drown out the firework sounds.

Good luck when your little pup comes home :)

Homer was fine with fireworks as a puppy it was only much later that his noise anxiety kicked in.

The Dogs Trust website has lots of noise resource files that you can play to them. That's on my list for this week :)

Good luck @Jyssica and get a good nights sleep as Rolo may disturb your nights for a few weeks going forward! Take load of pictures and keep us updated. I remember well the night before Bailey arrived...I was like a kid at Christmas! x

Hahaha I wish, We can collect him from 2:30pm So I am going to keep busy in the morning! I will do, I'm not too bad with distributed sleep, my OH is, so ive said I will sleep in the spare room for a few nights until I know a routine that fits Rolo, as my OH needs his sleep for work etc. So dont want to disturb too much!

I am sooooooo excited! I will post pics as soon as I can!
