Just popped to the shops to get some supplies in, because it's a holiday here tomorrow and everything will be closed. I always give the pooches something when I leave the house. Today it was an egg each. Yummy.

As I was walking round the supermarket, I thought, I don't need eggs, having just seen the box, there were six left.

    Well. There were.

I returned home and opened the door to two very happy dogs. The lid of the egg box where I'd left it, on the counter instead of back in the cupboard. The cardboard base of the egg box turned into confetti and strewn all over the floor. Nary an egg to be seen.

Their dinner was on the lean side tonight!

Heh, I'll have to show this to OH, prove that even well-trained labs will counter surf when there's nobody around.

It's a pity you're not in Spain full-time because you've got plenty of room for chooks!

Oh, Willow is an awful counter-surfer. I'm just normally very good at not leaving anything out in her reach! Big fat fail here.

Eggs live in the fridge when it's hot, but it's cooled down significantly here recently so they stay at room temperature, just like in the supermarket :)

To be fair, even if I kept eggs in the fridge, it would still have happened. Because I don't keep my eggs on the counter where the dogs snaffled them from. They're supposed to live in the cupboard. I just left them out by mistake :D

    HeeHee.

Eggs are only in the fridge in this house if they come already refrigerated. Which they do from some supermarkets and not from others. My Home Ec class at school taught (rightly or wrongly) that you should keep them in the fridge or at room temperature but never swap between the two - because warm air condenses on cold eggs, and then the shells become porous. So if they are already cold, keep them cold, if not don't. Well, that's what I remember anyway....something along those lines.

We have chooks here, Benson is always on the hunt for eggs. We have large henhouses, more like small sheds. it It not usual for me to open the door and see Benson sneaking out the other side with his mouth FULL of eggs! [IMG][IMG]

Talking of eggs, and to coin a phrase from Cadbury, "How do you eat yours?".

Willow chomps down on an egg in her mouth, so there's minimal dribble to the floor. Shadow smashes his on the floor and then licks up the mess. Willow's method is far more efficient :)
