So, it is officially winter here. We are currently getting a huge dump of snow (on top of the smaller dump we got last week) and I would say it's here to stay. And it's only mid-October! Ack. Way too early.

Anyhow, it is what it is. I have been feeling rather guilty lately that Simba and I have got into a bit of a rut. We are doing our daily walks (3x) but my training has fallen off the rails. I have mentioned before that there are no classes to go to around here, which makes it really difficult for me to be motivated. But, boo hoo and all that.

So, I realized that there are some online classes! Woot! Someone posted about Rally online in the summer but I got bogged down with having to register your lab with the kennel club or whatnot...ok I guess I'm lazy but I just wanted to try the course without all the bother.

But, I have been looking for other courses and have found this one, which is a weekend course with Ian Dunbar and I think it will be fine. At least it will give me some things to work on and try with Simba. It's at a good price too, so really nothing to lose.

I also have a book of dog tricks after I took the Trick Dog course here a couple years ago (the last thing offered, drat) so I will dig that out and have a go at some of those.

Anyhow, I hope to keep going on this and try to make winter a little more fun for the pooch instead of just trudging around our usual walks in town.

And this week, we head to Banff for a couple days....and he is coming! Yay! Snowy mountain walks here we come....

Hey, great! I'm doing Susan Garrett's recallers right now with Betsy (would be better to be paying a UK trainer in $s rather than a US trainer in £s right now, but there we are! :D ) and I have found it quite motivating.

Sounds like a really good mini course. Look forward to hearing your views on it and how you get on with Simba.
Have a fab few days off walking in the snowy mountains x

Yes! I've looked at the intro and the first vid. Basic stuff so far but it's good for a refresh. I'm interested in some of the games and whatnot. Something to do on the cold stormy days. We went out for a walk at noon today - what a slog through the wet snow! Currently home and enjoying some tea and a cookie.;)
