I am the least technical person I know  but I have had a couple of posts in my inbox that were clearly meant for the forum, several members/mods have responded to this which makes me think this isn't private or am I getting this wrong?

Could someone clear this up please?

    Thanks so much xx :)

Sometimes people get a bit confused when they first join and send PMs rather than posting on the main boards. Does it look like it's just that? I generally redirect them to where to post so everyone can see :)

Hope that clears it up - it's possible to create a conversation with more than one recipient, which they often do, too, which is why several people sometimes join in.

It does look like that but as a few mods were redirecting the member but does that mean PMs can be seen by other members? Seems odd  Thanks Fiona x

When you start a PM, you can include as may people in it as you like, it doesn't have to just be 1-1. So, quite often the new members will add a whole load of people who regularly answer on threads into the conversation. There's a box on the right hand side (at least, on a computer) that shows you who is in the conversation. Other than the people who are invited, no-one (not even the mods or admins) can view PMs.
