Hi there, my 18 month male lab has suddenly calmed down. It is our first lab and has taken me by surprise as I wasn't now expecting him to calm down so young. I was wondering whether he is ill but he seems absolutely fine, just hugely and noticeably calmer in the past number of weeks. Just curious what age others have calmed down and would you say this is "normal"

Hi Sonz and welcome to the forum. I moved your post to a more appropriate category :)

I can't say I noticed such a sudden calming in my two (who are two years old). They certainly are more composed than they used to be, but it wasn't an overnight thing. They still have their moments - and plenty of them!
I'd say with ay sudden change in behaviour, it's worth having a vet give them the once over, just to be on the safe side, but if they rule out any health issues, then just enjoy it! :D

Mine is 17 months and has done the same over the last couple of weeks. He's suddenly become much better at recall and I keep finding myself feeling proud at how he's behaved in scenarios where he would have been a little disruptive not so long ago. He's still a cheeky little menace sometimes but we wouldn't have him any other way!

Ripple is 19 months and although we have the odd day of good behaviour he's still the same crazy boy he's always been :D.

Molly definitely became much easier at around 18months old. Enjoy your adult dog!

I think Lilly settled around about 2 yrs or so.
Suddenly you kind of think....Oh, she's been quite good lately!
Lilly is now 6.5 or thereabouts :D

Benson is 3 years old. He now has more moments where I think he is mature, he thinks things through. So he seems a wiser dog I guess...but then... he still can't have a proper bed, he will chew it. He drags his bedding out still, but I now say can you pop that back in your bed, and his does. He will eat the mail, eat shoes (my brand new UGGs have a hole in them). He gets madly excited at training...sigh...
