So yesterday was a really terrible day where absolutely everything went wrong :(

I was headed back to work after my lunch break after a crazy morning when I stupidly backed my car into my garage door, shattering my back windshield. So then I had to get my dad to drive me back to work. 3 hours later I pull up in front of my house and my front door is WIDE open (I must not have pulled it all the way closed on my rush out the door!) Of course I'm panicking trying to get out the vehicle to make sure my puppy is still in the house, and then he saunters on out and sits so nicely on the front step (I almost wish I had taken a picture), just watching and waiting for someone to come home.

SO, SO glad he didn't decide to take himself on an adventure, and get lost or hit by a car. Door was open for 3 hours and he didn't leave. I was so impressed and VERY, VERY thankful.

Ugh, could have gone sooo much worse.

You must feel so relieved! What a good boy!

I'm sure I'd get a call from the butcher round the corner pretty quickly if I left the door open!

Titan IS a really smart boy! I wonder what went through his mind those three hours? Should I go or should I stay put!!! Is she coming back? Why did she back into the garage door??
Think I'd better stay put!!! And he DID. He is very, very smart. You must have given one huge sigh or relief!

I don't know that I've ever felt more relief in my life than I did when seeing him come out the door. It was the first day that I had left him decrated while I was gone too so poor, sweet boy probably had no clue what the heck was going on.

We got security installed today, so now if the door gets left open or is opened while we are not home, we'll get alerts sent to our phones. And we have cameras set up so I can watch what he does when we are gone :)

Everything DIDN'T go wrong, Titan didn't run away. Dog training has taught me to always look for the positives. Seriously, cars are just things and can be fixed. Dogs are family, precious. You have had a lucky day, not an unlucky one xx:sun:

Sorry that you had such a bad day. That is awesome that Titan was such a good boy and stayed right at home. I can just imagine the relief you felt. I'm sure he is getting a lot of extra treats and lovin.

Maybe he did what I did when I was an unruly teenager and went out with his mates when he knew you were out and came back when he knew you weren't getting in so you'd never know :D

In all seriousness though, what a good little lad. Defs deserves lots of treats!

Wow, that's just amazing. 3 hours and he stayed put? Just...wow. Time to buy a lotto ticket or head to the casino because you are LUCKY!

Wow, that must have been a horrible feeling. No matter how careful anyone is, there are always just weird situations that can happen that can change everything. Luckily, this wasn't one of them and you are very right to feel very proud of your boy. So glad it was a "all's well that ends well" type of story!

@JenBainbridge Haha you are probably right! I did find a pinecone in the living room so I know he wandered out to our front yard at the very least. We just recently moved into the neighbourhood also, so really glad he didn't go any further. I doubt he would have known his way home if he had gone too far. He got lots of extra love and treats that night, that's for sure!

I love "proud of my boy moments". Lol Not sure of what he'd do around vehicles in our long driveway and 4 acre yard I'd always requested he be kept inside during movements, but yesterday my contractor left in his truck and Duggan followed him up to the road and stopped at the edge of our property and then watched him go down the road only to saunter back to the house without ever being called or leaving the property. that was my proud moment. We walked him around the perimeter of the property twice a day for 6 months and always called him back if he crossed the line, when mommy checks the mail she makes him sit at the top of the hill by the road and wait while she crossed the road to mail boxes. Sorry if I'm being rude and off topic in your thread, like I said, I just love those moments they make you proud or when you see results from all your hard work. Good for your puppy to have stayed home. Safe and sound. It's really all we want.
