Well today David and Thomas took Charlie for a lovely long walk and Thomas cycled. They decided to give Charlie a chance off lead, Thomas cycled about 100 meters and recalled Charlie with his whistle, off he shot straight to him for lovely hot dog, then back to David's recall they did a few of these and Charlie had a great time and had a lovely run, back on lead but a positive experience and lovely to trust our boy even for a short while :) xx

That sounds brilliant - just the job! I bet Charlie was really excited to race back to Thomas :) So sensible of them to keep it short and put him back on lead while they were still succeeding too!

Thank you, we are of course not counting our chickens just yet, but a small step it was. As I always like to say "progress is progress" xxx :D

Brilliant! I don't know about small steps, 100m sounds like quite a long way, so pleased for you, have been following Charlies progress with interest, and it seems to me that you and partner are the best possible trainers for Charlie :)

Thanks Kate, I suppose 100m is quite a long way but we have to trust him as his recall has gone from zero to not bad at all, we will take it slowly and build it up in areas of our walks we can manage. Today no wildlife so it may well be a different story on a different day we'll see. We really need to get the stop whistle rock solid which is really taking a long time  x
