We use the long line just for our fields, which is a about 5 -6 acres of open ground, well until the paddocks are free.
Casper has a problem running into the woods, when he goes...he goes! Like a bullet. He comes back pretty smartish...I just don't have time in the mornings to hang about. He is good with the long line, he walks quite close anyhow, and it means he has room for short retrieves and recall training. It is almost like a red mist descends over him, I can usually catch the moment just before he glazes over and distract him. We are doing this with retrieve games, gradually building up his excitement and drive and hoping going forward this will help with triggers.

I guess Casper also is aware there is a smorgasbord of delights seemingly designed just for him the other side of the wood... :bone::doug::tail:
