    Hello, new here :)

I have a 15 week old Black lab.. obviously a black lab!
She Is called Matilda, my first Puppy although I have grown up with Black labs.

I got her as a birthday pressie when she was 9 weeks old, I recently got married and whilst on honeymoon we had decided to get a puppy, so the pressie was a very welcome one!
she has been such a good puppy! having grown up with labs I have been quite surprised with how she has picked everything up!, and she retrieves perfectly and has been since about 10 weeks, sits when told generally so bright! (yay)
Few little issues with toilet training but we appear to be getting there ( touches wood!!)
Shes great on the lead, great off the lead.

Does anyone have any 'Top Tips' id be delighted to hear them!
Just got to figure out how to upload her pic to here now!

Hello and a warm welcome to the forum from me (Fiona) and my two monsters, Willow (black girl) and Shadow (yellow boy) who are coming up to their second birthday - how, I have no idea, they're still tiny puppies in my mind!

To upload a photo for now, you need to use a third-party service for hosting such as Imgur, Photobucket or Flickr. Here are some links for each service that will show you what to do:

If you decide you like us enough to hang around, you can become a forum supporter for a small fee of £10, which allows you to upload directly onto the forum:

Many congratulations on your wedding - and your wedding/birthday present, of course! Matilda is a fab name :)

    My top tips include:
-Don't let her do anything now that you don't want a full-grown Lab doing (even though it's cute now!)
-Train lots of impulse control exercises - no mugging, uncued sit to say "please", not barging through doors etc
-Have a look through the Kikopup videos on YouTube for loads of ideas about training young puppies.
-Get a copy of The Happy Puppy Handbook, which is by Pippa Mattinson, the owner of this forum. It's packed full of great tips for new puppy owners. I read it cover to cover before bringing mine home, and several times afterwards.
-Share loads of pictures with us. That one is non-negotiable :)

    Welcome to the forum :)

My tip would be to work on recall. At this age they want to follow you and run after you so take advantage of that and encourage and reward it :)

Oh, bless her! Look at those eyes! I love how the whites really "pop" on the black Labs. Especially when they're puppies, they just look at you and your heart melts ... or they give you that "evil eye" and you know the crocodile is emerging :D

Hi and welcome from me and nearly 3 year old fox red girl, Harley :)
I ditto the suggestion of not letting them do something now that you would like a full grown lab to do like jumping up at you (I made this mistake!), lead walking (this was a mistake from me too) and recall (this I have 99% of the time). Also, take lots of photos :)
