After losing our 18 yr old Black Lab in June, we got a new 5 month old Black Lab named Hampton. We were elated to find this forum. Can anybody recommend any indestructible chew toys. He is going through a very boisterous, spirited stage right now and chews up toys like a wood chipper. His red Kong that lasted 2 months, was annihilated in about 2 hours. He is smart and learns fast. He will grow into a wonderful companion. The current issue is what toy might hold up a bit to his strong jaws. Any ideas ??

Hi, and welcome from Holly and me in Monmouth, Wales. I look forward to seeing some pictures of Hampton.

We found that nylon chews put up a bit more resistance than rubber Kongs. Hopefully the chewing stage will start to abate in a few months and toys will start to last a bit longer!

For info, my great grandfather lived in Lexington for several years before moving to Colorado in about 1910.

Holly is a beautiful girl. We'll give some of the nylon toys a try. We appreciate any tips from other Lab families. Thanks so much.

Hi and welcome from our pack...Benson, Casper and young Bramble! :)

We used nylabone chews (under supervision) also an extra large anco root. She loved to gnaw away in her crate. We have also used the soft antlers, you have to search carefully as most antlers are too hard. Large fish chews, frozen pizzle/bully sticks.

Hello! How exciting to have you here. I am an over 30 year native of Louisville who got transplanted over here into southern IN near Patoka Lake a few years ago. Edsel and I welcome you fellow Kentuckians to the forum. Hello Hampton and happy chewing!

Hi and welcome from me and Harley :)
Did you manage to get a black extreme Kong? I use Ruff and Tuff toys and find they are usually pretty good

Hi there ,welcome to the forum,we have Dexter ,our first dog and he's nearly 4 ,he was a pretty determined chewer when he was younger .It sounds like you've had some good suggestions already ,I also used to use cardboard tubes and boxes and out little pieces of food in...it messes up your house a bit as it obviously gets totally chomped up but it really seemed to satisfy the chew desire for Dex.Younhave to watch they don't start eating it but if they do swallow a bit it's not seriousl...you see it later at the other end of business!
