I've done it, I've done it! Well, AMAZING progress at least! As part of failed car seat belt harness experiment / car cage deliberations....OH is thinking of swapping my car for something else. He has just said "well, let's get a bigger one..since we are thinking about another pup..." Wow! Cool!
Re: OMG! OMG! Yes, I'm not hugely into cars (although a new one would be nice) - I am thrilled about the "thinking about another pup". Yippee!
Re: OMG! OMG! I immediately said "what do you want to call the little spaniel?" (I know we're calling it Lyra, but he doesn't know that yet) and he backed off a bit...slowly, slowly catchy monkey, I think....
Re: OMG! OMG! Here is a deal then....... Wait til Easter (good time to house train a pup I believe) and I will send sophie down as a helper. That can do in lieu of a puppy for Christmas. We would need to coordinate holiday times as we is different up Norf. (Spaniel.....drool.....)
Yes we're going through an acclimatisation process here too, which isn't helped by OH not being a spaniel fan :
Re: OMG! OMG! Hee hee hee - looking forward to pictures of Lyra before too much longer. It's inevitable now... ;D ;D ;D Quick, sell your car without delay and get the first manoeuvre in place. Clare

Re: OMG! OMG!
Which variety of spaniel have you got in mind, Julie?
I've fallen for cocker spaniels, I think...but I've still got an open mind. Not least because I've only met one cocker spaniel that the average pet owner has under control! So it'd have to be something I'm capable of training...
Re: OMG! OMG!
A show cocker or a working cocker? Two quite different breeds in my mind.
I've been thinking about that - but don't really know enough about the differences between show or working cockers so tend to draw similarities to labradors. Is that accurate though? I have a show lab now - and I think he looks great (don't get me wrong, I love all labs, field or show) and he is a perfect pet. If he were a horse, I'd say he was "bomb proof". Tube, buses, fireworks, fairs, all fine. He is pretty easy to train, has no phobias (apart from harnesses :) and is a keen enough retriever for me to do my little bit of dabbling in gun dog stuff. Do I like the idea of a dog with a pedigree stuffed full of FTCs? Sort of, yes... but do I need one and would it suit me. Well, that's the question, really...
