I don't think we've made it through the crocodile stage yet but she hasn't drawn blood in a week. Our clothes are looking holey too. But I think the stand up, turn back, cross arms and wait for her to settle is our best tactic. Any 'no' or puppy style yelp seems to add to her enjoyment. She's called Amber, she's a lovely fox red colour. The breeder is my friend's mum, so I know the pups mum and grandad well. Fingers crossed we get the biting under control in the next few weeks. It's difficult to stay angry when she's this little and cute which I think is her saving grace often. Starting puppy classes next week and having a dental specialist look at her damaged teeth. It's reassuring to know everyone on here has been through this stage. Thanks.

She sounds gorgeous, and Amber is a perfect name for a dog that colour! How nice to know so much about your pup's family history too.

    More Improvement :)

Amber is now 16 weeks ish. Started puppy classes last week and she's loving them. Although the border collie and shih tzu don't really enjoy her boisterous play, she is just over friendly and excitable. Still a crocodile but has now seen the doggy dentist to have her broken canine teeth removed. She has stitches in her gums and a swollen nose but 24 hrs on she is less groggy and back to her naughty self. The chair legs are receiving less attention and my kitchen hand towel is hung back in its proper place (which I don't think she has noticed yet). Now if she jumps on sofa to attack cushions, rather than fight to get her off, I walk into the next room quickly and excitedly call her name - she jumps off sofa to see what's so amazing and gets a treat for a sit and paw. Planning a beach trip at the weekend which will add to the distractions to test sit and recall. Now been left alone without problems for 2.5 to 3 hours and had a painless 1.5hr car journey to the Cheshire county show. No accidents in over a month, sometimes sitting by back door asking to go out. Weighing in at 12.5kg and looking a bit lankier, co-ordination suffering a little :)

    Hello All

Am back again with problems ::)

Bruno has been chewing a lot of furnitre and been scratching his paws against the walls :(
He usually has a good walk in the morning , n plays with Simba in the backyard when we not around . These usually occur when we both are at work . I understand its due to boredom , When we at home i have seen him inviting us or Simba to come n play and gets bored if we dont play with him . I supposed Simba isnt in mood to play all the time . He prefers to enjoy his sleep and bark at neighbours dogs or any strange noise he hears .

Am sure this is not uncommon episodes of chewing and scratching walls . Am wondering if this is anything to do with seperation anxiety , when we leaving bruno is fine and doesnt look worried or even bothered .

    Please Advise

    Cheers

    And Amber is gorgeous :)

Vish, the chewing that Bruno is doing is quite likely to be boredom, not anxiety related. Remind me - do you go to obedience classes or do training that will really challenge his brain? It sounds like he is a smart dog who needs more to keep his brain occupied. An obedience class once a week and a 15 minute session of training each morning might help. :)

Vishnu, I agree with Rachael. A short training session in the morning will make him use his brain and help prevent boredom chewing while you are out.

ROFL right now, yup Dusty was a typical lab, most of his puppy habits he grew out of, cant say he has stopped his stealing socks though, and truth be told he would make a rotten thief, he is way to proud of his accomplishments and shows us straight away.

I do remember the day after we picked dusty up I was at our pet shop, there was this book there on labs on the inside front cover was this little saying

your puppy will never grow up, its a Lab,

I will never forget those words and I am thankful Dusty still loves his cuddles and still loves to play and just loves being with us.

I guess I am a proud mum of my Lab Dusty, would not change any moment of the last 7 years with him. I still call him my puppy lol
thanks for the post you just brought back all those anxious memories the dispare and the laughter. ;)
