yes, when sardine dispenser #1 was working (briefly) before it ran out of water, i just squeezed a bit out and Charlie licked the blob of sardine from the end of the pouch.

Ok, although experimentation was delayed due to the chewing of batteries, the research programme completed today with the reusable baby food pouches.

2 cans of sardines in oil - drained.
Magimixed to death - really, for ages
Added one tablespoon of oil back in as was not convinced I could get a squeezable consistency without it
    Magimixed AGAIN

    Ta Dah!

Works perfectly. I'm squeezing far too much out in the vid - I need to squeeze out much less than this, after all, with two tins of sardines in one pouch, it's concentrated stuff.

Fantastic....well done and thanks for sharing your experiment results...
I'm going to try Dexter on sardines and if his tummy can take them I'm going to use this as my reward to get him past dogs he wants to lunge at on lead.I lose his focus sometimes when rooting in my treat bag trying to find the roast chicken rather than the steamed chicken ::) ,I can just whip that out and I give home a squeeze for looking at me ,brilliant, thankyou x

It worked very well on the walk tonight for recalls. I reckon I used less than normal. And so much better than a freezer bag and stinky hands!

I did start squeezing a blob onto one finger, as it was a bit easier to give him a tiny amount that way. But a wet wipe tied to my treat bag to wipe my finger on was enough to keep me mess free.

Very pleased with it, thanks for all the help!

Ah, yes, that's also an unfortunate side effect of chewing a battery. ::). It's wearing off..but I don't think the sofa will ever be the same again...

I hope you don't mind, but this is a wee update on the sardine dispenser.

Of all the rewards I've ever used, this has to be the best one yet.

Cupar has been "out" for five days now and this dispenser is invaluable.

Three pips on the whistle and I have a thirteen week old pup trying to find the brakes. Every time.
I've been practicing walking to heel ,but biscuits is the reward for that. The sardine dispenser only gets used for the whistle.

I have found one tin of sardines does two days, I wouldn't keep it any longer anyway. So works out 25p a day.

I have even started using it with Cassie.

This reward works for bringing him away from cow poo.

    No dirty , smelly hands.

We have met and been introduced to other dogs and when I think he's annoyed the older dog enough, whistle and straight back to me.

Now I will keep all my fingers crossed that once he reachs the age that he feels more adventurous, that we will be able to maintain this level of recall.

In the meantime I and Cupar thankyou for this brilliant idea.

Yay! I agree - I'm on a week's training course and my sardine dispensers have been fabulous.

I have a hand blender with me and a "fill 'em and squeeze" system - I prepare two pouches a day (I'm doing a LOT of training).

It was such a forum effort contributing to product development.

There was much interest at training today in the sardine dispenser I was using.

    ;D ;D ;D

I think the problem is that on a commercial basis, additives and preservatives would have to be added. The beauty of the labrador site forum sardine dispenser (LSD) - the forum solved the problem, I just wanted a solution - is it's all good stuff. Just sardines.

Bonus application: Add lemon and black pepper to the dregs of Charlie's sardine treat production = OH's lunch. ;D ;D ;D

He's now muttering something about my "priorities"?
