Elsie just bit the top off hers last week ! I thought we were alone the store seemed to think we had done something to cause it.

Anyway feeling guilty here we stuff them with grated carrot or dry dog food mixed with cream cheese. They probably think how boring everyone else is getting better treats than us :-\

I'll contact Kong. I didn't buy them at the same time so I don't think it is a faulty batch. Perhaps they have 'improved' the material it is made from for economy reasons!!

To be fair it wasn't the same robust rubber material as the traditional shaped kongs .....but even so,I brought this back from the UK a couple of weeks ago and this was his first go on it! ???

Teenage Charlie munched through puppy kongs without much trouble, and some of my older ones, that have been frozen and used loads of times have a few cracks starting...

Can I ask what kind of (and size) kongs you recommend? I have a couple for Lucca (13 weeks) and he doesn't seem to get anything out and I just end up with a smelly kong or one with biscuits stuck in it!
    Thanks :)

I started with a small puppy kong.
First stuffing was just with some moistened kibble.
Then started mixing it with mashed banana (always have bananas going over-ripe) or a bit of natural yoghurt. Maybe grated carrot.
Keep it soft and smelly to begin with I would suggest.

That is what I started with....but expect to upgrade to a bigger one as your pup gets bigger and develops stronger jaws :)
And remember you can use it to feed all or part of a meal. You probably want to factor in the calorie count to his daily diet anyway.
once he gets the hang of it, start freezing it to make it last longer.

Bouncer currently has a puppy kong. I had no joy with putting dried food in it as he couldnt get it out.

I tried tuna mixed with grated cheese & he couldnt get enough of it, not all dogs like the same stuff but give it a try.

Remember to reduce his/her meals to make up for the extra calories.

Nope. When they can't chew anymore, and fall asleep, it's called "konged out". A desirable state of affairs. ;D

Pre made sandwich spreads have a LOT of added salt, so probably not a great idea. Go with tuna mixed with grated cheese, its well healthy & they go bonkers for it. Also try filling your kong with some dry food at mealtime then giving your pup the rest in a bowl. Holly will eat her dins think thats it but, NO, out comes the kong of treatyness.

I wouldn't due to the high salt content - you could use wet dog food or dry with a bit of natural yoghurt :)
