Lovely late afternoon walk at Westonbirt. We are season ticket holders so quite enjoy a peaceful walk after hours so to speak. So do a few other dog walkers. Tonight was no exception.
Off we trot with Benson and Casper, we meet a few other dogs on the way, and they are invariably posh, well behaved working labs or spaniels.
So we meet Angus, a simply stunning black entire labrador. And his cultured owner. Benson stays quietly by my side and Casper runs to say hello. We spent a pleasant couple of minutes admiring each others dogs before we went on our way, however not before the gentleman comments with a twinkle, "Nice meet such a slim chocolate, shame they are just so untrainable though, my neighbour has two, quite silly dogs really".
Anyhow, a lot of the footpaths at Westonbirt are circular. So we bump into Angus again.
Up ahead a maintenance truck comes down, they do tend to trundle up and down when it is quiet.
Angus, well..he was just playing zoomies despite the owners obvious exasperation. I called Benson quietly and asked him to sit by my side.
In good humour I motioned to my "silly" labrador and followed up with a "So remind me what you were saying about chocolates?
To that he replied with equal good humour "If I had my hat,,,I would eat it!"
Yes...I was very, very smug...with a chocolate lab, you really have to grab these moments, then tell the world.
    I thank you..:)

Benson is a star :D. Choccies, untrainable - never. Always keen as long as a treat is involved

I was reading along, thinking it was your hat of course, but also wondering why. Nice twist in the story, there, glad to hear YOUR hat is safe and GOOD BOY Benson. :)

Haha! But Kate, quite frankly, you were lucky that the split second after you said that, Benson didn't mug the driver, make him crash into a wedding party, and cause a hearse on the way to a funeral to swerve into the lake.... :D:D:D

Well done, Benson. You show that silly man what choccies can do!

@Boogie Max is beautiful - and sounds like he'll have a good life ;)
Do the entire males that are earmarked for stud still get trained as GDs?
