hi, i was happy till 9 months, she is now 10, from month, before she was hungry like no burden, we feed all things she eats, we always used Puppy Drool Focus Kibble, but Now she's not Eating Kibble, when she smell Kibble she kick the Bowel away, she react strange like she hate this smell, i tried all Brands, Royal Canin and everything, she is not Sick, because she like Dog treats like Buiscuits, i feed her Goat Meat she ate it very well, but thats not permanent, its very costly for me for feeding her regularly, i cant afford, she only like Milk, but dont want to feed her milk, i gave wheet bread with yogurt, she hate this too if i feed her with my hand she will eat, shes not like lazy, she play well, what should i do now
If you've had your puppy checked by the vet and nothing is wrong then it could be she is holding out for the more tasty food you give her when she doesn't eat her kibble like the dog treats and goats meat. You could try choosing a different kibble, a different brand and flavour and rather than put a whole ration in her bowl use it as treats for training so she isn't getting tastier treats. Check you aren't feeding her too much and you could try adult kibble if she is ten months old rather than puppy kibble. Puppy kibble is higher in protein etc to help puppies grow and develop she may not need that much anymore so doesn't bother eating it. Good luck I hope you find a kibble she likes.
Oh dear, they are a worry. My advice would be stick to her kibble, cutting out ALL extras and treats. Put her bowl of food down at each mealtime as normal, maybe moisten the kibble with a little warm water. If she doesn't eat it within an hour at most, pick the bowl up, discard the food. Repeat at the next mealtime, repeat, repeat, until she starts eating it. You need to be strong and not give in. You will worry she is going to starve, but you have to be stronger than her. If she is hungry, she will eat. I am a tough dog-mum.
Thanks to all, I tried all brands of kibbles, she dont like it, I tried to warm water in kibble to soft it and also tried yogurt but she hate this thing, I can be strong, but she is suffering from hip dysplasia caused by rickets, I cant feed ricket supliment on empty stomach, but i tried to be strong, she was hungry for 1.5 days, but she didnt ate kibble, this is bad situation.
If she isn't eating and you have tried as drj@5 said and others, then there must be something wrong with her health, despite the vet saying there isn't. I would take her back and suggest she has an x-ray. Unless she has been overfed, is she fat? When pups get to her age, they do need less food, maybe she is just full up and will eat in a day or two?
It could be that if you keep changing the kibble and offering titbits on top to tempt her to eat that she's waiting to have something really good offered particularly if it's dog biscuits and goat meat. I would just choose one of the kibbles, place it in her bowl and then place the bowl down on the floor for her to eat with no extra encouragement. Walk away and leave her to it, no feeding by hand. If she hasn't eaten it in 20-30 minutes just remove it. You may well find that you need to be tough with her, and yourself, but if she is fit and healthy she will not starve herself. If she continues not to eat I agree with Stacia that you need to go back to the vet
Hi, I read your posts about your dog going off kibble and mine is doing the same, can you tell me if your dog is ok with eating now? What did you do to solve the problem? Thank you
We had this last summer with Vanilla where she was going off her food. We changed the bag as we thought it had gone off, she was OK for 1meal then back to normal. Visit to the vet found nothing first time. We then cut out all treats, nothing a bit like @drjs@5 a bit of tough love. Changed to adult food, same again one meal then nothing. Went back to the vet as @Stacia said and found a deep ear infection and it was just starting to come to the surface. Basically did not like having her head down nor the crunching of kibble. Treated her for this and same time changed to raw all was well. I would go back to the vet and get a full check up. Also does she eat seeds from the grass? I know that can line the inside and make it uncomfortable for the dog and cause plenty of problems. Our vet thought that was causing something else a while back...so we watch her like a hawk when she is out and wants to eat grass
Hi, thanks for the info, yes Maisy is always nibbling at plants, but not really grass seed. Did Vanilla still eat other things with her head down? Maisy will eat most other things including crunchy biscuits, she lays down and also eats with her head down, but just not the boring stuff in the bowl. But if things do not improve I will get the vet's advice, thanks.
Yes but as long as it was not crunchy. Which is why we ended up doing further investigation. Hope you got to the bottom of it.
