My Choc Lab Nancy has finally had her second jab and is now able to go pavement walking.. The trouble is she won't walk, she goes for a few steps then she stops and just won't move. She's better when there is more of us taking her so we can all Rev her on a bit, but when it's jus me and her it's like she can't b bothered.. What can I do?

How old is she? My boy had his second shots at 12 weeks old. He really did not need to go on walks, and he didn't in the usual sense. He was off leash in places we walked and gambolled around with me on bush trails. But leash walking? No. I am assuming you have her on leash.

A trick I've read is to carry her out, put her down and then walk home. At that age shorter leash walks on pavement are better for her little joints anyway. Since I've not had that problem (no leashed walks till older for mine) I can only repeat what I've read of others doing.

It's not hot where you are, is it? The pavement is not hot?

No it's not hot here, live in England so cold at the moment.. I took her off the lead for the first time today and she walked fine.. The problem is the lead, but obviously she needs the lead in some areas.. When I put her back on she didn't walk again, maybe I need to encourage her more with squeaky toys and treats to make it more exciting..?

You can get her used to the lead by clipping it on for short periods indoors and letting her wander around with it on and even practice some nice loose lead walking indoors with her with lots of treats for walking nicely
