I found training all so confusing and struggled a lot with Charlie until I found this forum which absolutely saved mine and my families sanity. Great support and training advice in spades on here and ALL positive too. I suggest getting Pippa's Total Recall book which will help you with recalling North from other dogs and sharpen up his recall. I worked through it lesson by lesson with Charlie who came to us as an absconder (we weren't told  ) and now he has a verbal and whistle recall and is pretty good, not perfect but good enough. You might also find Pippa's The Puppy Handbook useful to go back to basics with North as he is still so young. Have you thought of clicker training? I do this with Charlie and he responds so well to it. There's a lot of clicker information on the forum it's good fun too!

He certainly is lovely, his colouring is beautiful. Please let us know how you get on with training him. xx

Aw, he was a skinny boy, wasn't he? My Shadow, who we got at 14 weeks, was a scrawny one, too, and he's prone to weight loss. Was it hard to get weight on North, or did he bulk up easily?

He is very handsome! He doesn't have the hard look that some huskies can have. Beautiful markings on a very handsome boy :)

Thank you xx I've been looking at the books I think I'm going to order the Total Recall for definite and will have a look at the Puppy Handbook too....it was a recommendation on the books elsewhere that brought me here! I've looked at both clicker and whistle training too but want to try and get the voice part under our belts first...if we confused then poor North doesn't stand a chance LOL

He was just over 12Kg when we got him, he's just over 19Kg now and didn't seem to have much problem chunking on the weight LOL He's just been neutered too on the advice of our trainer and the vet. He's much calmer now but struggled with settling at first as he's been living with 3 or 4 other dogs and by the looks of it been allowed to run riot with them without being stopped when he got too boisterous so had no idea how to stop.

What a handsome boy! He did look very underweight when you got him; looks perfect now though.

He's a beautiful boy. Coco is also a cross-breed, and Belle is a bit of everything.

Hi there, and welcome! North is gorgeous! You will find some great advice here, don' be afraid to ask questions, there is usually someone around due to the international flavour of our forum. It's daytime somewhere in the world all the time! I live in Canada with my Lab/Newfie cross!
