Hi all, I am new to the forum and wanted to introduce Archer (Archie for short). He will be 4 months old this Friday, Macrh 18. He is dark yellow (in some circles he would be a red fox), crazy smart and has multiple personalities! He is the sweetest in the morning when he's a little sleepy still and has bouts of "evil puppy" and "psycho puppy" throughout the day...like every lab you've ever known. Archie is my second lab. The love of my life, Wrigley (chocolate), died the day after Christmas this past year. He was 12 1/2 and lived a happy, healthy life. I miss him so much it hurts sometimes. My husband and I didn't anticipate another puppy until Spring (easier to train than during the Chicago winter), but the breeder emailed me pics of this little man 2 weeks after Wrigley died. We picked him up 4 days later. And we love him like crazy. His AKC name is CHF On Angel's Wings because he has these white feathery wings in his fur on both shoulders, and because he came in right after Wrigley. Anyway, look for me around the forum...asking questions and sharing my experiences from time to time. Looking forward!
Archie's Mom, I am new to this forum also, well, I just posted for the first time today. But have been reading for a couple of months. =) My story is so similar. I lost my best friend Thomas mid November (12 years). Still hurts so badly. He was my second lab but truly my best friend. Chocolate too. And I was planning to get my next baby in June so the Oregon rain would be less or none. Then I found a breeder with just what I was looking for, so January 3 brought home a yellow baby boy with white stripes on his back. I call them angel wings and my husband calls them racing stripes. LOL Oh and my baby was born November 17. Just one day older than your Archer. I look forward to watching your Archie grow. Happy four months Archie! Kay
Hello to you both and a very warm welcome to the forum from me, Willow and Shadow, who are 19 months now. I'm so sorry to hear of both of your losses. The new puppies certainly have a way of wriggling into our hearts and I'm sure they help to heal the pain. Your stories really are very similar, what coincidences! What is the name of your puppy, @TmanMyMan Kay? Enjoy the forum and feel free to post lots of pictures of your pups
Hi Kay! Wow, our stories are really similar. Thank you for posting and I look forward to watching your T man (angel wing brother ) grow, too. Kirsten
Welcome to both of you from Oban and me. It's been a while, Oban is 8 now, but he also arrived when our house became so quiet and empty after we lost our first Lab to good old age and then, tragically, a beloved cat a month later. Unlike you, Archie's Mom, we did go through potty training a puppy in, not just a winter, but one of the snowiest, coldest winters. You were smart.
