My 5 month old choc lab doesn't do anything!!!

Yes I've already lost 6lbs with all the running round fetching and carrying balls and other toys, god knows what my neighbours must think!! )

 

I think we all gave up worrying about the neighbours when we got our pups with all that high pitched excited voice we use . I still use that voice most the time with Juno, I think my neighbours, we've only been here a few months, think it's my normal voice

 

Friends of ours had the strangest Lab puppy I have ever met - very quiet, wouldn't engage, never wagged his tail. Sounds very much like your Rolo. My friend says how she found it quite difficult to bond with him at first, because he was so stand-offish. Not what you expect from any pup, let alone a Lab. He grew out of it in adolescence, though, and turned into a lovely, confident and engaging dog that is the best mate of my two, enjoys cuddles on the sofa, plays with toys and other dogs etc. Everything you'd want a dog to do.

Definitely keep going with all your doing, because it can only be a good thing, but hopefully he'll be just like Alfie and grow in confidence as he gets older.

 

I have fenced off a training area in my field and I can see the neighbours, who overlook it, peering out from behind their blinds when I'm in there doing my silly voice, crazy run rounds, and over the top praising of Ripple when he does anything near to what's been asked of him .

 

If neighbours think it strange, they obviously have never trained a puppy It wasn't quite so bad in France as no-one could see me in the garden although sound carried quite away but then the neighbours didn't understand the English

 

HI there, just wanted to say it's great to hear that he is coming along. I know Kate says that her Sam is a quiet, reserved boy too. Keep up the good work, I'm sure he'll continue to gain in confidence as time goes on.

 

oh we're surrounded in our small back garden. I quickly got over the embarrassment of using a training voice!

Thanks for the update! Glad that Rollo is coming our of his shell a bit more. Just keep persevering, I'm sure you will get there. Keep us posted!

 

You are doing a Grand job for your puppy. Rollo is a luck dog. Keep going

 

Is it possible that he is hard of hearing, or has bad eyesight? I have a deaf frrret, and the first while he was here, he was very unsure because he got startled easy. Did the vet check that?
