Today we went to the local common as a change to our regular walk as it was such a sunny morning. Mabel rolled in freshly produced fox poo. Yuk. Someone offered me some advice before trying to shampoo it out cover it in tomato sauce. Tricky as I was trying to stop Mabel from eating it, but it worked a treat. Fox poo is no more and after a nice shampoo she smells quite lovely. :)

Wonderful stuff isn't it ? Luckily my two current dogs haven't ( yet ! ) done the fox poo trick, but my last two were shockers for it , I used to use tomato juice as a rinse just before the last rinse :)

I think it's actually the vinegar in the tomato sauce that does the trick...

I have a poo roller too, although his favourite is badger poo which is just as bad as fox! The tomato ketchup works a treat. My Lab is a little angel and has never rolled in anything luckily. :)

Cowboy Magic is a real game changer for me
SO happy to whoever suggested it originally - not sure if it was you Mags @Boogie
I would not be without it now.
Not just for poo applications, but a quick spritz of a slightly whiffy dog when going visiting. A real godsend.

That sounds like a great idea for a quick spritz and the poo too :D

I'd agree, is it the acetic acid which neutralises?

Tomato juice has been the folk remedy for skunk spray, too, so it must work pretty good. Thankfully I have never had to try it out, and fingers crossed I never willo_O

Tomato juice works but it's expensive and time consuming if you use it for skunk because you need SO much of it. AFter our first skunking we made sure to never be out of Skunk Off. It works much better and it doesn't turn white dogs pink. We are smelling fox now for a month or so as it's mating season. Vixen fixin for some mixin smells like mild skunk. :) I'm not sure if you need the same enzymatic reaction to clear out fox as we do with skunk but I use the Skunk Off for any strong smell. Skunk is one thing vinegar doesn't work that well on. Lots of people use a baking soda or feminine douche product as well for skunk. I have not tried those but Mythbusters likes baking soda/hydrogen peroxide and dish soap best.

Yes - our frequent visitor Zaba is rather whiffy round the boy bits - cowboy magic to the rescue! It works :)

Think I'll give this a try, she doesn't suffer from pink as she's a choccie
but OH said she definitely had a saucy aroma :D:D.

@Snowshoe we don't get skunks here in the middle of England, I just can't imagine how bad they must smell

After a rather enthusiastic rolling session from Willow this morning, I now have a bottle of Cowboy Magic in my Amazon basket, awaiting our next UK trip! :D
