How many folks have more than one call name for their dogs? Do you think it confuses them?

We have always called Till or Tilly depending on whether we just wanted her attention or really wanted her to do a command. In the same vein, Cooper has become Coop when we are just talking to her, and Cooper when we wanted her to do something specific.

Tilly is really Tilly Jane, and Cooper is Cooper Spur. Both named for climbing routes on Mt Hood.

Cooper may get an inferiority complex if she learns to read, since my MX-5 plate holder says Coupes are for Chickens:rolleyes:.

I asked a similar question some time ago: http://thelabradorforum.com/threads/how-many-names.8358/

If I'm training, I'll use their actual names, but the rest of the time, it's Monkey Moo, Munchkin, Smelly Bum, Duchess, Farty Pants, Handsome Boy, Beautiful Laaaaaaaydeee... the list goes on :)

I often call 'puppy puppy' as that's what they get from day 1 at the breeders and it's imprinted far better than their given name!

    :)

We always use Juno, named after the chief Roman Goddess, for attention, cues, training etc. For greeting, fussing she gets called gorgeous, my beauty. We tend to go for names that can't really be shortened. Dog previous to Juno was Flynn

Pongo has at least a dozen names and he ignores all of them equally.

What is 'Enough' in French? maybe that would work better :p

Haven't got a French keyboard on the phone but it's 'Ca suffit'. The 'c' is soft so it sounds like 'sar' and the 't' on 'suffit' is silent and the 'su' is soft as in 'Sue'. If that makes any sense :D

When I am actually calling him it's always Obaaaaan COME. But he has nicknames that he responds to with a look at me, Obe, Obi, Obanwankanoban.

Homer is homer for training but gets called Roo, Roo-Roo which comes from Homerroo because he was like a little kangaroo when he was a puppy. I also call him my puppy and my big boy. I caugh myself calling my baby niece a clever little puppy.
