These do look fun. I have to discourage tug games unfortunately so it doesn't encourage S&S to play tug together. They played tug with a rubber ring a few years ago. I took my eye off them for only a minutes or two and scout ended up with an injured jaw. So anyone with more than one dog please be careful. My two know not to play tug. When my cousin came the other day Scott was wandering about excitedly with a toy in his mouth. My cousin got hold of it then asked are they not allowed to play tug because ever time I pull he looks at you like it's wrong. They've learnt something yippee
Ours love a game of tuggy together....the rabbit skin bungees from tug-e-nuff are their favourite. Think I might need more than one puller ring..wonder if they do them in pink?
This angel has already bought far too much for the dogs this week (hubby away - it always happens!) .
If one of mine wants to play, they'll pick up a toy and shove it in the face of the other one until they get a reaction. At which point, they'll start playing keep-away with it
I think this is good advice - although I don't have two dogs, and Charlie wouldn't dream of tugging a toy off another dog. He is far too polite! Or a total wimp, more like! I learned to play tug properly with Charlie and one warning from the trainer always sticks in my mind "make it fun, but keep it controlled - it's not about doggie dental work by tug!".
Oh yes, I'm sure some dogs are very gentle, in which case no cause for concern - Charlie wouldn't even resist if another dog tried to take a toy off him (he'd just give it up then look put out about it!).
Unfortunately my two aren't gentle with it they both want to win. They do play with toys with each other egging each other on, teasing, dangling in front of the face but, Scott particularly, has learnt, well most of the time, to give in or I will intervene so if they don't tug the game can keep going.
Sam often looks for a game with Millie , she rarely bothers these days, but just occasionally , its game on The size and weight difference can make this quite amusing as Sam drags her , willingly, out of the sitting room, into the kitchen and out into the garden , all in good spirit , but when it comes to the best grip, she wins paws down
We went out to 'train' with the puller tonight. We were building desire for the reward and a history of reinforcement...oh, who am I kidding! We played with it! Have some hilarious vids of Charlie running round with it on his head! Will process them a bit later. Here is first introduction to puller toy..... I think it will be fine, actually. There was no structural damage at all. Just dents in the outer layer. I should think once it's all evenly cover in teeth marks it'll look ok again! I don't think it will break, not at all.
It's a soft feeling material - hence the teeth marks - but it's quite a stiff ring, and strong, I reckon.
