.....dealing with Tyne, the piranha dog with a Uti and poor old post elbow op Tom the springer is not easy
I have no system that works yet.
I have to keep pup away from tom as she may hurt him with her rough play.
Tom has to go out in the garden on a lead only which takes ages as he's not fond of performing on a lead as never really had to.
Tyne still has to go straight out on waking and also every half hour anyway as her Uti hampered her toilet training. She doesn't like going out without tom or me or hubby.
I have a playpen up and two crates and the house looks like cage city!
Now it's peeing down and I have to go out with a a brolly!!
Tyne is still waking at 5.45 every morning so I need a nap by 10am please!!

This is, ofcourse a bit tongue in cheek but it is very hard at the mo. I feel that all I'm doing all day is seeing to the dogs and anything else has to be done very quickly and usually not properly!

Ok, rant over, if you've got this far, thanks for reading about this poor old woman's woes!

PS I love them both dearly ❤️

I felt the same a few weeks back. I have 2 children, the house was in a shocking state and all I seemed to do was puppy sit! It has got much better! She's 5 months now and I can actually get on with things again. Xxx

You're right. You should have waited until September to even consider hoovering :D :D

Oh Marge, rant away. Life is particularly difficult at the moment for you. Dealing with toilet training a puppy is hard enough and keeping them amused but then you have the additional worry of keeping Tom restricted and free from Tyne's exuberance and wanting to play. I remember what a nervous wreck I was when Juno had her elbow op last year and with the on lead trips to the garden for walks and toileting. I can only imagine how much tougher it is with a puppy bouncing around as well.

Good excuse to rant, Marge - and also good excuse (or, better still, reason!) NOT to do housework and to rely on instant meals too, as well as an extra glass of wine, perhaps!

Marge - from someone who is also dealing with potty training a puppy and then finding out he has a UTI - rant away! I have had a couple breakdowns telling my husband how all I do is take the dog outside every 30 minutes all day and never get a moment to myself! And I feel like in some ways I am back to square 1 with already difficult potty training. We will get through it! Being able to read posts on this forum from others having the same issues or others who have gotten past these puppy stages really helps :) I hope things get better for you soon! In my experience there are good days and then really disheartening frustrating ones!

I feel for you! It's not easy and very tiring but it will get better.

I had to keep my two totally separate for six weeks when Bracken had his spinal surgery. We had the house divided into two with Bracken using the kitchen and back garden and Lucan the rest of the house and the front garden, they could only communicate through the stair gate across the kitchen door. It worked alright but I was exhausted running back and forth dealing with them both.

Sounds like hard work. Have a glass of something and relax while puppy is asleep for a bit.

I was exhausted looking after one puppy without a UTI. Hope you've managed some rest over the last few days.

@Marge How's life with Tyne and Tom? Hoping the UTI has cleared and that Tom isn't getting too difficult with his restrictions for his surgery.

Thanks for all your comments, it's great to have the support.
Took Tyne back to vets for check up yesterday and urine is clear but she's sent some off to make sure. Tyne is bright and very well apart from that and her toilet training is gradually improving!
Tom is such a good dog, he makes no bones about his house arrest! His stitches are now out and no more collar and he doesn't seem to be limping. Still a way to go but I'm so lucky to have such a fabulous chap, he really is a gem.
Tyne is just starting to listen a bit and we are working on her waiting for food, she already sits nicely for it. I have lots of questions about her development which I will get round to asking eventually!
Ofcourse, the dogs are not the only thing going on in our lives and it's frustrating not to be able to get on with stuff but we are blessed with our two fur babies and they come top of the list at the mo!

@Marge It's good to hear that life is a little easier, at least on the health fronts, and fingers crossed for the all clear on the urine test.
