Hello Doug had a really runny pooh during the night, (like water)?this is the first time he's had this. He seems fine this morning although no pooh yet. He is 9 weeks old and I know the weather has been really hot would that have affected him, I haven't changed his food, he has started to pick things up in the garden and chew them. Please can someone advise me I boiled rice for him this morning but he's not interested. I am concerned as I don't know what has caused this, any help or advise would be welcome. Thank you from me and Dynamic Doug xx
It is so worrying. Jessie had a horrible tummy upset a couple of weeks after we had her that the vet put down to her eating things she shouldn't! I am an inexperienced owner myself, but I would wait and see what happens this morning and if things don't improve give your vet a call when they open. Ours give great advice over the phone and if it carries on, they can give you a probiotic, which worked pretty much immediately on Jessie. Boiled rice and chicken or fish also good. I hope he improves! Try not to worry, I think it happens to them all at some point. Xx
Hi @Dougs mummy I hope Doug is improving. Unfortunately young pups can be prone to upset tummies. They tend to eat things they shouldn't and can pick up bugs easily. You've done the right thing cooking him some rice. If you can add some chicken or white fish like jessieboo has suggested it might encourage him to eat it. Bland food Little and often is the best way to feed when they have upset stomachs. If he's eating, drinking and behaving like normal it's probably something that hasn't agreed with him but with a young pup and in warm weather if he's still got diarrhoea, especially mainly liquid, I'd check with the vet.
We had a few of these moments when Mole started finding things in the garden to chew on! Chicken and rice helps as does some scrambled egg. Also make sure you have a tube of Pro-kolin in your cupboard - miracle stuff to help upset tummies and they seem to love the taste of it. Pretty quick results too. Have always used it on my labs as they are amazing at finding inappropriate things to eat! You can get it on amazon and it tells you the dose for weight of pup on the tube. Sam and Mole
All good advice! Just wait and see if Doug improves during the day. When Maisie was little, and I was a newbie dog owner, I rushed off to the vet as she had a bad stomach and was passing mucous, £100 spent at the vet and the next day she was right as rain....antibiotics don't work that quickly!!! Chicken and rice or some scrambled egg is good for the tum.
Hello thank you for your help, Doug had a pooh earlier and it seemed a little more solid, I have been worried all day about him, he is drinking so happy about that, I'm going to cook him some chicken breast tonight, as the rice isn't to his liking . He is happy in himself and can still nip me really hard so hopefully he is on the mend. Love me and Doug x
Glad he seems to be improving. Try some scrambled egg like samandmole and Debs suggested. I'd forgotten about scrambled egg my old lab loved it and boy did he have a lot of upset stomachs in his 15 years. Pro Kolin or Diarstop are good to have in stock. http://www.vetuk.co.uk/dog-suppleme...stop-cat-dog-anti-diarrhoea-oral-paste-p-2811 http://www.vetuk.co.uk/dog-suppleme...prokolin-antidiarrhoeal-probiotic-paste-p-249 Diarstop seems to be the new favourite with vets around me. It uses montmorilianite instead of kaolin which is supposed to be more effective.
