We think my in laws have a Peugeot 2007.

I've had a V70 and a Subaru Outback and while they are flat and relatively low they're not as low as the Peugeot. The Peugeot isn't massively big though whereas both the estates are huge!!!!

Thanks for checking this out, Barbara. I don't think I need a huge car, just something that the girls can jump into easily. I'm not sure I'd be very good at parallel parking in a HUGE car!! Struggle enough as it is :)

What's parallel parking? ;):) I think I sort of remember having to do that many years ago :oops::D

Well, I may be wrong but I think it's when you're faced with having to reverse a car into the tightest of spaces when there's a queue of cars waiting for you to do it (and get it wrong!!), so no pressure...:p

Just do it the French way that involves heavy contact with the cars either side of the space and full use of the pavement (side walk).

Haha so true! we were waiting to go into the catacombs in Paris and this lady arrived in a little car can't remember what make but small. She reversed parked into the reasonably good sized space and whacked the back car then the front car then for good measure hit the back one again. She then got out locked her car and left. We were like omg! where as most didn't bat an eyelash at what she'd done :tmi:

Will watch this thread with interest, hubby wanting to change our car later in the year. We got our car in between pups so Baxter sits in the back seats of our Jag which is not ideal lol

Love the Paris story! I think I need a car with beepers to warn me when I'm close... it's not that my spatial awareness is bad... well, it's just that beepers help. Sometimes, when no one is looking usually, I can parallel park perfectly, and then I wish someone was videoing me to show the men folk in my family!! :D:D But generally prefer a drive in space :)

I have an Astra estate, 03 so quite old but has a flat tailgate that's not very high.

Ah... another vote for the Astra estate.. flat tailgate seems to be the answer, as I reckon the lip on my Golf, plus smaller boot space inhibits them from launching themselves in. With a deeper boot and no lip, I think it'd be ok. They can certainly jump in the garden ok, so I've come to the above conclusion. Thank you!

I don't have an estate car, but have Citreon C4 Picasso, the boot is quite low with no lip, Buster can jump in it with no problem, we do help him out though as he has ED but it has plenty of room for him.

My dad gave me his car when he was no longer able to drive. I'm very lucky, as he didn't drive far so although old the mileage is low on it.

Thanks, Helen. That's another to check out. The lip is def the problem, and I don't necessarily need an estate car. Thank you!

That's lucky. I'd be trading in my silver Golf, so hoping it will help towards the cost of a similar age replacement. I have a bit of homework to do, I think, but it's really interesting reading everyone's thoughts and about their experience. :)

The Astra has parking sensors front and back.. but I've yet to attempt to parallel park - I'm hopeless at it too.

With an estate and trained Labrador in the back who needs parking sensors ? The lab looks out the back and barks if you get too close to any thing. P.s when you have trained your dog to act as parking sensor let me know, so I can then train Boris .
