Hello, I am new to the Forum. I was wondering about advice for best time for training sessions. For example before/after meals or naps. I have two 5 month old sisters (That's another thread, lol.) Thank you for your thoughts.
Hello and welcome to the forum. I also have litter mates, who are just shy of 22 months. A boy, Shadow (yellow) and a girl, Willow (black). Please pop over to the introductions section and tell us a little more about your girls I think a good time to train is when you have time and can commit to it. If your pups are getting a bit mischievous. Whenever you have a spare five minutes! Basically any time - all the time! But, to answer your question a bit better, I always have my main training sessions before their meals. That's just how the schedule works in our household, so I wouldn't say it's necessarily the "right" way to do it, but the added bonus is that they're that little bit more hungry so that might help their willingness to work for food rewards. Having said that, they're typical Labs and would never turn down food, even if they were fit to burst...
Hello and welcome to the forum from me and my 18 month old chocolate girl Mabel. I agree with @snowbunny it's what works for you, in our house it works best to do a training session at 12 o'clock ish then again at about half past 6. I found these were the times when she was restless. I had a brief spell of her attention barking but the small training sessions put a stop to it. I also try and do small training sessions while we are out on our walks. I like to keep her close and interested in me but that's not to say I don't let her explore as well. Mabel will sometimes have a naughty face and I just know if she was left to her own devices she would create havoc. Some photos would be lovely of your two girls
Whenever you've got time not to feel pressure. Having said that don't discount the small free pockets of time. You can achieve a lot while the kettle boils
Thank you! That makes sense about training before meals. I will head over to the introductions next; would love to share their pictures and story.
Thank you, great advice. We are still working on loose leash walking at home. We tried to go to a lovely park near our house; they did good, but realized we needed more work at home. They are just now 5 months old with Great potential.☺️
Very true and We like to 'practice' in every room, and outside. We've made baby steps proofing our sit with small distractions....looking forward to their future❤️
Whilst cooking tea tonight Harley had to find treats spread across 4 sealed boxes. Kept her entertained for ages and then she settled down to watch me finish cooking. Take every opportunity you can is my motto
