While brushing our 13 week old pup this evening we found a lump on his shoulder that I am sure was not there this morning. It's mobile and isn't causing him any pain but I'm still worried. Our old lab had lumps in his later years that were fat lumps but Bailey is only 3 months old! Of course it's Saturday and the vet is closed! I know it's not an emergency but Monday seems a long time away. Has anyone had experienced anything like this? Thanks in advance for any advice, Bev
I wonder if something has bitten him (insect or something) and it's caused a local allergic reaction. If he demeanour is otherwise fine then I would just monitor it at this stage. With any luck it will start to go down. My dog sometimes gets a local reaction of this kind to injections (it's probably a reaction to the silicone coating on the needle) and it feels like a firmish, circular, domed, mobile lump under the skin. Takes a week or two to disappear. It's always stressful when something is not right with our pups. Hopefully this is a very minor issue and nothing to worry about in hindsight
Why didn't I think of that! He has kennel cough at the moment and was given an injection of penicillin in that area. Worry clouds the judgement I suspect. Thanks so much for putting our minds at ease.
Oh great, glad it's nothing to worry about As I mentioned you might find that it takes a while to go down, but it should slowly go away without any intervention needed.
Thanks again Rachael. He's had an ear infection and kennel cough in his few short weeks with us and all I could see in my mind yesterday was a very ill puppy. Your response really eased a lot of worry. Thanks so much
