We were watching a movie and Axel was acting out as he always does come 9pm as that's when he goes to bed. So my husband took him to the bedroom and locked him in his crate. Closed the bedroom door and came back. We had about 45 minutes left.

A few minutes go by and I heard him being loud but he always throws himself against his crate when getting comfy so I didn't think much of it. Then the movie ends and we just talk for a bit. Then we brush odies teeth(our Pomeranian). And talk for a bit some more. Then I decide to go to the bedroom to get ready for bed.

I open the door and up pops Axel who was sleeping on the floor!! Lol. Turns out my husband didn't actually latch the crate properly at all. So Axel had been out of his crate and all he did was sleep by the door. I had laundry all over the bed (his favourite) I had phone chargers plugged in to the wall on the floor (another favourite) odies bed by the door (also a favourite chew toy for Axel) and he didn't touch anything! Amazing! He was so excited to see us too

That was his first time ever being alone and not in his crate. So proud he didn't destroy everything

Thanks guys! I was so proud. Still am :D

I think I might try this weekend with him just sleeping on a dog bed during the night and see how it goes. I just worry that he will be wanting to go piddles during the night if he's not in his crate

You can give it a try and if it's not working out with trying the bed you can go back to the crate.

    Not even a sock!

I didn't end up trying last night as I'm down with a head cold and thought uninterrupted sleep was needed.

We will try next weekend :D
