Oh Lisa, you've made me laugh...I was out shopping yesterday for some last minute bits ( a week before travel, very last minute for me!) and I found a silver sequinned bum bag which is what I use as a treat bag (battery had gone on my phone for taking a picture) kicking myself now I didn't get it
You realize that we will all be waiting with baited breath to hear the story of Dex's journey and that he has arrived safely (and you, of course...)...charge up your phone battery as we will be needing pictures!!!
Oh blimey,Lisa I'll be straight on here after he's driven away in the van ,wailing and fretting.....he will be ok,he will be ok! I'm driving the lady who's looking after his booking mad.....today's question was clarifying his drinking water availability for the duration of the trip..... This time next week we will be in Yorkshire! X
My brother worried so much when his girls emigrated to NZ with him, they were absolutely fine. It doesn't make it less anxious though. I feel for you too.
Ah thanks Claire ,everyone that has had experience of doing this is being very kind in reassuring me and I really appreciate that x I've only had one negative comment from one of the helpers at his daycare who said she thought it was cruel to put a dog through the stress of a flight for the sake of 8 weeks.....I took that a bit hard to be honest and it was during the time when we were a bit undecided due to other factors......anyway ,it's going to happen now so we will have to see.His crate and bed have been packed, wrapped and labelled this morning! ::
Ah don't worry and take it in your stride! Dogs are such versatile animals. Casper travelled by transporter overland, then the ferry to the UK, and we met him at 7am in the morning. He had been travelling from early afternoon the previous day. He had no preparation, have never been in a cage in his life, and was fine!
It's not cruel. All he'll know is that he'll got into a crate for a while and then got out of the crate somewhere much greener!
Heavens, far better to be with you that eight weeks without you. The plane journey is short and no comparison to eight weeks!
Oh no way would we have gone for 8 weeks if he wasn't coming too ,I couldn't leave him that long for the world...I struggle with 10 days to be honest!weve come back from 4 holidays early since we've had him,we are hopeless! Dogs are amazing with how they adapt aren't they ....blimey he will be glad to get away from here...we are having quite a lot of renovation work done while we are away.Half the house is packed.....2 bedrooms are empty ,including ours and he is sleeping in my niece and nephews room with us ,somewhere that he is previously not allowed.....most things that aren't packed are wrapped in plastic sheeting that must look a bit puzzling and his bed in his 'room' has disappeared.....getting put in a box and swung round on a forklift truck into a plane will seem like a doddle after all the disruption here!
Charlie had the same travel arrangements as Casper, not exactly first class. I didn't see him until much later, but the way he greeted us when we went to see him I can assure you he was non the worse for it, jumped in our car with Hattie and the rest is history! x
He'll be fine. He might be a bit alarmed by the crate moving around, but apart from that it'll just be boring for him - tough luck, I have boring days too, don't we all. For him to experience a whole new place, with his international fan club waiting, is well worth it.
Yeah, I wasn't going to mention that bit... Although I know from personal experience that if you live in a dry climate you never complain about rain....
