Can't be bothered to write much about early training - it's all exactly what you'd expect for a 10 week old puppy (of course, I think she is the smartest puppy EVER, but really she is a completely normal Labrador puppy, and what could be nicer? :)). She is very cute though, so did a little vid. :)

We've decided that she is a Velociraptor disguised as an Andrex puppy. We'll wake up one morning to see scales emerging through her fur....we're sure of it.

Bless her! She is a clever little angel all wrapped up in puppy fur! Don't believe for an instant she has a mouth full of sharp teeth!

HeeHee - she loves her turkey alright! Charlie is on the other mat, looking at her in bemusement, saying it's not like it's a dummy, love, calm down....:D:D:D

:heart: Gosh she is darling. Want to sqeeeeeeeze her! :)

Are you using a different recall whistle for her than for Charlie?

And speaking of Charlie, isn't he just good as gold, watching Betsy and her turkey?

Yes, because the breeder started using a 211.5 whistle and 3 x 3 pips - this has been paired with food for her since she was weaned and is what motivates her to run just as fast as she can for her recall whistle. It seemed too valuable to change her recall to be the same as Charlie's. I'm not sure it's going to matter all that much anyway. Charlie will recall either on his recall or on his change direction whistle (depending on what I'm doing) and I should think he'll recall on the first 3 pips of Betsy's recall. If I really want them to be the same, I'll change Charlie's recall because that would be easier (in that his recall is proofed on a verbal cue so I could just do new cue old cue etc).

I think Betsy is a normal, clever Labrador puppy. :) She is predictable, which I find surprising and it's quite calming. She jumps up when you expect her to jump up, she reacts to things in a way that I would think she would, you can trick her into not knowing where the reward has come from etc. In all these ways, she is much easier to train than Charlie. Charlie is predictable only in the sense that you can expect him to do something unusual! :D

I've always said Charlie is far too clever for his own good :D

Betsy is going to be vying for head girl status. Look out Poppy!!!!

I think Charlie is just bonkers. :) I think what happens with Charlie is he gets too excited to think, and then just does really random silly things. If he is concentrating and calm, he does stuff really well, but that's not very often! :D

Betsy's first walk on her own four paws. :D:D:D

We didn't say hello to any dogs, we said 'no, we won't say hello, thanks' and then ignored all the people that said 'Awwww......squeeee.....PUPPY". :D:D:D See how long that lasts, but a fun first outing. She sort of remembered her walk on my left side from the garden. Well, ish, anyway.
