After much deliberation, research, advice from the vets, the fact that they're siblings etc Milly & Monty are booked in on Tuesday for their respective neuter/spay.

So, in preparation I've been on a shopping spree & stocked up on extra kongs, kong wobblers and a couple of Nina Ottosson interactive games ready to keep the monster occupied whilst they recover, along with some basic training activities so, think I'm sort of prepared. Lead only & no play together is going to be vhard but hopefully I can tire them mentally.

Their comfy cones arrived today so that we can work on desensitisation in readiness.

    Any other suggestions most welcome

You sound pretty prepared to me....that's a great idea to practice with the cones...I did the same with Dexter when he was having his tail op....the only other thing I did was stock up on small cardboard tubes/ boxes....you get good mileage for treats out of those and they like a good chew on the cardboard....the house can look a bit if a tip but it's easy cleared up .
Good luck getting them over it,they will be as right as rain almost straight away which is the tricky bit....getting them to act like they've had an operation when they've forgotten they have had an operation x

Sounds like you're ready - we bought some bully sticks to occupy her and I was prepared with rice/chicken for the first couple days. During the 2 weeks of on leash walks only we also went for car rides for a change of scenery and new walk locations!

Ops on the same day sounds like it might be a challenge.
    You do sound prepared though.
Have you checked out Julie's thread about how to entertain dogs on restricted exercise? Good luck.

Oooh, that does sound tough! I elected not to have Shadow neutered, so he went to live with a friend while Willow recovered from her spay. She lives very close, so I still fed him, walked him etc. Poor Willow was out of sorts for several days after her spay, so keeping her quiet wasn't an issue - I know most people have problems keeping them quiet, though. Good luck!

Yes, plenty of easy digest food at the ready. I will be doing a daily short car ride for distraction, I'm doing it now to try to help Milly who still suffers from some car sickness, albeit much improved.

Good idea sending Shadow to a friend, unfortunately I don't have anyone in the area to take him so the only option would have been kennels & I'm not prepared to put him through that, given his age, standard of the kennels etc

You'll be fine. Jessie was very dopey after and actually absolutely fine on just lead walking. First off lead outing today, however, was very exciting. She haired off looking like she was screaming " freeeeeedooooom" very loudly. She was a total angel at recalling, which was a massive relief! We kept up practice in the garden!

Well we're a week today into their recovery, so far so good.

Milly's OVE went well. She managed to get her comfy collar off twice at the vets & ripped the vet bedding - little minx. She was, however, sick 3 times the first night due to the GA & wasn't interested in eating until late the following day.

Monty's castration also went well & no sickness. He ate a small portion of chicken & rice that evening followed by a nice bowl full the following morning.

The comfy collars have been good but the lack of peripheral vision has been difficult for them especially Milly. (she hasn't got it off again). I have given Milly some time here & there with the collar off, as she has a dressing, but not Monty as he's too interested in trying to get to the area.

The hot weather is exhausting them so that's a help! Counting the days until stitches out Saturday....
