Hi was wondering if the puppy on the right (green collared) if right size for 8 week old puppy He seems to me really big
Hi there I suspect that you haven't had any answers to your post because it's a question that is pretty much impossible to answer. First because the size of 8 week old puppies varies enormously, and second because it isn't possible to tell from the photo how big the puppies are - there is no context to tell.
My last puppy was huge, a big yellow boy. My current puppy is much much smaller! They vary massively!
At 7 weeks Tilly weighed 7.5 lbs and when Cooper was 7 weeks she was 5.5 lbs. Full grown, Tilly is 20.5" and 67 lbs, Cooper at 14 months is 24" and 85 lbs. Early puppy size is not much of a predictor of how big a dog will be.
IF, they are from the same litter I think you've got a bruiser of a male pup next to the runt, probably a female as it's got much finer features. I think we need some more info really.....
Hi Your right the one on the left is a female. I was a little worried that he is already so big. Bigger than all the video's on YouTube we have seen on 8 weeks old puppies. What do you mean by bruiser of the males
@Amar if you read the "how much does my puppy weigh" post (and I did because it's fascinating!) you'll see that there really is a massive variation in weights. At 8 weeks there were members whose pups weighed only a couple of kilos, and those who had pups who weighed 8 kilos!
You cannot really tell what the outcome will be at that age. I had a pup who was the runt of the litter, she was named Minnie by the breeder because she was so small and the largest one was called Bear. My pup, when grown, ended up much larger than Bear!
That just means 'big and solidly built' Are you worried that the pups are actually older than 8 weeks?
Ah I thought so lol No I'm not worried I was just taken back at how big he is. Maybe it's the way the picture has been taken or something as every video I have seen at 8 weeks they are a lot smaller so I was just worried as we wanted a cute little boy
Don't worry, he is still a cute little boy When we got our first pup the breeder made us wait till he was 10 weeks old. He seemed huge when we went to get him! I felt like we had missed out on some of the puppy cuteness... But in reality though he was definitely still a cute, tiny, roly poly puppy
