Hello everyone, Doug is a beautiful 22week old Choccy lab. We are feeding him pedigree chum puppy food (dried) 3 times a day 150g each meal, he weighs just over 20kilos. His poop is always soft not runny, we don't know why. Doug is a happy cheeky typical puppy.. He also has training treats during the day. Can anyone help please thank you from me and Doug
Usually if their stools are soft it can mean they are over fed. If he's having 3 meals and treats I would try and cut down the portions of his meals. Maybe try 125g for each meal and see how he does. I only feed about 65% of the recommended meal allowance as their guidance can be way off. Also, pedigree isn't a fantastic brand of food and has lots of fillers in which might also not be helping. Might be worth looking into other food.
Thank you so much, we thought about changing his food but so many on the market and we don't know where to start.. Any advise please x
Skinners Salmon and Rice is excellent. Better ingredients than many at twice the price. This will help you choose - http://www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/the-dog-food-directory ..
There are loads of good puppy foods so read around online and decide what you want for your puppy. Most of the recommended amounts are far too much. We invariably reduced the amount, sometimes by as much as 50%.
We have ordered some Royal canin labrador puppy/ junior food it's got fab reviews saying it's helped with soft poop and also the coat. Thank you
We have bought some and are in the process of changing Doug over slowly. Thank you and here's to firmer poop
