Thank you Joy! What a day! She's much more relaxed now and snoozing nicely. A quiet weekend for us I think. I have extra tablets in case she is still stressed tomorrow, so at least we are covered for the weekend.
Oh how very stressful! I hope she has a calm night now, and definitely wine time for you! These tail injuries seem just so tricky to treat.
Thank you. The wine is open and doing the trick! One of the nurses was saying that tails are really difficult to heal compared with the rest of the body, but I was reassured that the head vet was happy with what he saw, so fingers crossed we are heading in the right direction!
Oh poor Maisie, it must be so distressing for her (and her humans, of course). I'm so glad that you've got some sedatives to see her through, and it's great that the vet is positive!
Glad that you are both being appropriately medicated! Hope the weekend is peaceful and everything keeps heading in the right direction.
I went through similiar, though this was a tail amputation, tails are so difficult, but we got through it and it is now a faded memory, I am sure it will be for you. I do empathise with you though, it is a very stressful time.
@Cath, much better and happier in herself thank you . The sedatives on Friday did a brilliant job of stopping the frenzied desire to get to her tail. I didn't give her any more yesterday evening as she was very quiet and chilled and we survived the night without too many attempts to nibble! The wound is still swollen but looks good and dry, even after a case of the zoomies when she saw a dog she knows . This warm weather is a bonus too as she's not great in the heat so I think that is helping to keep her quieter than normal.
Yes, on Tuesday evening when we'll get histology results. Hoping if she not bothered by the wound then the cone can come off while supervised.
Hi, just back from the vets and good news on the lump, it was benign thank goodness! So so relieved. The vet was happy with the wound, said it had a good scab on it, but the cone has to stay on for a least another week to give as much chance as possible for the skin to start pulling together. One part of the tail is still quite swollen with a bit of oozing, so we need to keep an eye on that. But so far so good. Phew!!
