Stanley's 19 weeks today and he's still so small! Whenever I see pics of the other pups it always shocks me how small he is, because I think he's starting to get really big now. This was taken earlier this week.. But compared to the other pups on the site he's like half the size. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f346/Jenny_Bainbridge/Mobile Uploads/image_zpsff6gx5xv.jpeg
Jen,I wouldn't worry about his size as long as he is healthy and happy. Labs come in all sizes it seems.....look at this thread.....we are all over the place with weights and sizes. Stanley looks cute and healthy in the pics. I also think the size of our pups depends a lot on their parents. I am sure your vet can put your mind at ease.
Jen, He looks very handsome and well in proportion from the photo's I have seen, it's funny because I always worry from the other end, I constantly take Bear to the vets for weigh-ins to confirm that he is not gaining weight too quickly. As always if your concerned the best bet is to check with your vet, but as the graph shows from the weights given there is a 13.9kg difference between the lightest dog and heaviest dog at 19 weeks, which is a lot when you consider the lightest dog was 11.4kg's.
Another week has passed, and Bear is now 25 weeks old. I weighed him today and he is now 31.6kg's. It was a bit of a stressful week this week with him deciding to eat a sock at some stage (I suspect he had it in his stomach for a few days), before regurgitating it, much to my shock. He seems to have taken it in his stride, and I suspect it was a much more stressful experience for the rest of the family than it was for him. Thank you again to those who added this week to the figures. Here is an upgraded graph:
Just got back from the vets, Annie is now 24.8 kg and she is 9 months. Fred is just the same 31kg and is 2 years.
Gosh what a worry eating a sock! This pups are such a worry! Bear sounds like he is a big boy already. Measured Bramble last night and she was 58cm at her withers, will check again, as that seems a bit tall. She was was wriggling all over the place mind!
Thanks for your replies everyone. It's just a shock sometimes seeing some of the pups on here because I think Stanley's getting really big. Vet thinks he's perfectly fine just going to be a "small Labrador" if there's such a thing
There definitely is! My two are small, even though they're a bit taller than both their parents. And Shadow, I even struggle to get to gain weight and keep it on. Not very Labrador-like at all
I don't weigh Axel every week anymore as his weight gain has really slowed down but I thought I would measure his height. He's 35 weeks now and 66cms at the withers. Just curious. I can still grab handfuls of extra skin on his back and sides. Do they always have extra skin or is this a sign he still has a decent amount of growing to do? He's 8 months old
Ok thank you I think he's done in height.. His legs don't look as 'knobby' but definitely looking more like a baby giraffe than a dog at the moment definitely needs to fill out
Ok so after I said that I wondered if maybe I'm wrong about his legs. Does it look like he's done growing in height judging by his legs ?
Well Bramble looks similar in the sense that her front legs are still growing to catch up with her back end....I don't know if this is a usual growth pattern though! Axel is a stunning dog!
That's a relief...she looks most peculiar when she runs....one reason I haven't been pushing for much from her with regard to stop/start or retrieves. All in good time. I do wish her ears would grow though...she has silly little ones on the side of a distinct cone head
Lol! The only reason why I asked is because I know a lab who has no excess skin on his mid back. But I know another lab who does have some but he's only a year and a half. So wasn't sure which was considered normal
