So, Tara was running with a Cocker and a Beagle, and having a great time. The Cocker then found something to roll in, followed by the Beagle and Tara - who, being a Lab, found something to eat as well. Turns out that the attraction was the rotting remains of a mole! That night, Tara was violently sick, repeatedly, all night, finally collapsing at 3 am. So, off to emergency vet (£120 to get through the door!) and a full check over, anti sickness jab and antibiotic jab. Total so far £268. Next day to regular vet, who pronounced her "OK", and gave me some stomach pills, which took us up to £300. Tara was sluggish for a couple of days, but is in fine fettle now, if a bit flatulent! Now have to pay £21 for two vet reports for insurance.

Our little pups are expensive but it's the price we pay. In the long run money is nothing more than printed paper it's the satisfaction we get from their love, entertainment, loyalty and all that good stuff that comes with owning a lab.

Best part is, your puppy will be back to full health and doing it all over again the next chance she gets. It's good to hear it was nothing to major. Just do what I do when I start thinking about the money aspect of owning a puppy, "It could be worse!"

My goodness, what a scare! Hopefully she will have learnt to stay away from rotting remains....maybe...

Glad she's on the mend, anyway. It hurts in the pocketbook but not a lot you can do about it.

Poor Tara. I'm glad she's recovered now. Unfortunately labs don't seem to learn that scavenging is a bad idea and can cause a nasty tummy-ache!

Oh dear, sounds like my old BJ all over again, lost count of the number of times he did something very similar.
Good news your girl is back on track :)

Sidenote: So funny you still think money is printed paper... Money has never been so virtual and so devalued. Best thing you have is the intrinsic value of your close family and friends, weather human or animals!

    Money is nothing!
    Get well soon Tara!

Well, she is OK now, and back to scavenging! Latest on the park is a dead fish (we have a fishing lake in the park), but we have avoided that, unlike a Doberman pup, who rolled in it - really stinky!
My insurance has an excess of £80 + 10% of total bill, so with that and the £21 for two vet reports I will not see a lot of return, and the premium will go up, as it is the second claim, after her benign tumour.
Still, it's only money, which I will try to explain to the bank manager!!!!

With luck vet visits will ease off as she leaves puppyhood. I went through a period during Molly's first year when we seemed to be at the vet almost every week ( including an awful bill for sedation and scan when it looked as if she had a blockage) but, apart from vaccination, we haven't had to go at all in the last 12 months. (Hope I'm not tempting fate...)
