Occasionally I shove some of her kibble jammed in with a chunk of Bonio into a Kong for Molly to play with. I think it took about 3 goes before she worked out that picking up the Kong and flinging it down was the way to get it to spill its content, rather than licking and chewing at the holes either end. I think that's pretty bright, don't you?
I think that's very clever! That's exactly what Ella does (another clever choccy)! Everyone talks about kongs being good for keeping them quiet... Not in this house!
Sounds like she might be ready to start having it a bit frozen. Soak some kibble in water and then stuff the kong. Maybe just half freeze it for now. My two have very different methods for dealing with their kongs. It's interesting to see how their brains work
Yes, too smart for your own good. At least that's how I felt when mine kept dropping the darn thing, hated the noise. I didn't know about freezing stuff then but, those of you who freeze - do you limit the dog to a room with an easily cleaned floor?
All my floors are solid, but they often go to a bed to have their frozen kongs. The worst that happens is they get a bit damp
Quinn only gets kongs (always frozen) when in her crate and she has washable bedding...but it's usually only a bit damp in there, never messy!
Very bright! We put soaked kibble in then freeze it. No throwing about gets it out, it has to be licked out, which is the whole idea. Solid floors here. The Labs make no mess the GR leaves a soggy puddle ...
I put the kibble (or carrots, treats etc.) in and then fill it with water (electrical tape on the small end) and freeze it solid. We let them take them where ever they want, and haven't seen any real mess yet. Most of the upstairs is hard wood floors with some area carpets.
