Loki found muddy puddles today, which he enjoyed until he got spooked by a log in the water. This is in the Firs next to our house.
    Before, during and after.
(P.s. What's the best way to clean a muddy dog???)
Also how to I get him to stop him jumping up other dogs? Older dogs don't always like it.

    Oh my goodness how sweet!

Re the jumping up, I would step in and stop him. Or else you can just let the older dog tell him off when he/she gets fed up with the jumping, but best only to do this if if he is playing with a good-tempered dog that you know well. You don't want Loki getting bitten!

Thanks. I think it's because at puppy class the pups are allowed to play and jump all over each other for a short while.

Most of the older dogs I've come across usually just growl at him if he does it and I normally try and hold him by the harness

Adorable! If judy gets muddy I let her splash about in a stream near my house - it gets most of the mud off and she loves it! Her behaviour with other dogs has improved a lot, I just held her back if it looked like she was going to be a nuisance to others.

If there isn't a handy stream or pond then I get the hose out when we return home.

I like the older dog idea too but it must be one you know won't hurt Loki. I think he's too young yet for an older dog to do much more than move away from him. We have video of Oban going in circles backwards trying to get away from my sister's puppy with her sharp little teeth, till, OUCH, Oban backed into the corner of an end table. IN the video my Mum can be heard saying, "Don't hurt the puppy, Oban. Don't hurt the puppy." Yeah, Mum, it's Oban who got hurt. ;)

I love watching pups playing in the mud :cwl:
If there is a stream nearby I get Harley to go in and wash the mud off. If not, I take her home and put her under the shower as she HATES the hose! She is a spoilt pooch :$

Labrador heaven. Here is what Pongo and Harley found in our garden when she visited.

My solution for a muddy Pongo is an outside hose-pipe (he doesn't mind it, he'll stand still nicely even when the water is really cold - I guess labs are built for it!), followed by a good drying off with a super-absorbent towel (I got an Aquasorb from amazon, they are great). And then we play wrestleandtummyrub with an old bit of normal towel, he doesn't really need it but it is a favourite game.

How do you get her to the shower without treading mud in everywhere though? Might have to try the hose but not sure if he would like it. Or maybe he would

After a walk we put Harleys dressing gown on if she is wet or muddy. This takes a lot of the mud off which makes it easy to get in the house and straight upstairs. As you can see by the photo @Rosie has put above, Harley LOVES mud :cwl::cwl:

This is one of Holly's "micro bogs" that she found in the Lake District last week. The grin says it all!

We've had all three colours over the years. With a yellow we can see how much mud she is bringing home. If there is a lot we let her have a swim to rinse it off.
