Is it okay to feed Loki cooked boneless salmon fillet?
Just got some in the oven for oldest child's dinner (youngest doesn't eat much and refuses all dinners except pizza o_O)
Just wondering if it's okay to make a kong up with some salmon and kibble.
    What about the skin?

    Thanks in advance

    Ooh, lucky lucky LUCKY Loki!

Perhaps the only thing that Pongo loves more than warm juicy chicken is warm juicy salmon - especially the skin. He very, very rarely gets it, and at most it is just a scrap off the side of my plate. I am not going to tell him about your post because he will jump straight down this laptop, through the wire and out at your end to get in front of Loki.

Definitely. My two adore salmon, too. I always save the skin for them, and they get to share the head if I buy a whole one :)

Since Loki is just a baby, I'd only give him a little bit, since it's very rich and it might upset his tummy. Not in a bad way, he has to get used to eating different things, but too much could be - um - explosive!
You could freeze any that you don't give him immediately, if there's too much.

    Hahah.
Yes he is a lucky pup but I do feel guilty about popping him in his crate when I nip out but he's always happy with a kong in there. As soon as I get one out the freezer he goes running over to his crate :)

I just (foolishly) said the word "salmon" out loud and Pongo has trotted off to the kitchen hopefully.

I think Pongo would happily sit in a crate for a while if he had a SALMON AND KIBBLE KONG to keep him company. Any day.

I do all the time! Canned salmon and cooked salmon - no spices or anything. Sometimes add a bit to her dinner or put in a kong. Quinn loves it!

Holly would be in ecstasy if she was offered a salmon Kong. Crunchy salmon skin ranks high among her favourite treats.

I am often gifted large trout at work. They're caught in the reservoir and taste rater muddy to me. I bake them in foil then portion them up for meals, freezing some of the portions. Coco LOVES it.

Be sure not to feed raw salmon, at least not the Pacific varieties. They can carry a fatal bug (parasite??) which will be killed by either cooking or freezing hard. This is a significant concern on the West Coast where fisherman or cooks might have raw salmon scraps. Incidentally it apparently not a problem for Humans since raw and rare salmon are served in restaurants.

I've given Bailey tinned tuna, fresh cod (scraps) but not tried salmon yet...muuuuum something for the shopping bag this weekend I think, as salmon is a favourite of mine (fresh not tinned, can't stand that myself yuk).

I discovered at training last week that leftover salmon makes a perfect heel :D Unfortunately also makes greasy handler hands lol.
