Can anyone in the UK recommend a good kennel for labs for a place to go in the garden? It isn't for overnight or very long, just short periods when there are too many people indoors. Thanks.

Hi, sorry I don't as I have never used one but another thought for when you have lots of people or for short periods - a crate? Means the dog can stay inside and still be with you :)

Thanks @charlie but I have a crate. We just think she'd be able to wander round the garden but still nestle down in a cosy place if she wants to.

We're not in the UK but we bought ours on eBay (new, not second hand). It arrived flat packed so we had to put it together when it arrived but it saved us a fortune.

Are you pleased with it and, if so, do you know what the make is?

Our Lilly is too nosey and wants to be inside when visitors come. She doesn't settle outside. In fact, she isn't much of an outside dog at all unless we are there too.
So getting something second hand and not costing a fortune would be perhaps prudent.

Dogs are family members (or they should be), they are very sociable animals, particularly Labradors - there is no reason why they would be happy to be shut away from the action and wander round alone outside. Unless you are sure she'd be happy outside, I think buying something cheap until you find out is a good idea.

Don't worry she's always inside with family when they're here! And I guess as she gets older it won't be a problem anyway. I just thought she'd be happier playing outside when we pop out than stuck in her crate and we'd be happier if she's outside when we've got lots of other people here holding drinks and eating. The garden is dog proof, she can't get out.

I never used it for this application (I'm not much of an entertainer/hostess!) but I used my ex-pen both indoors and out before granting full access to the garden or house. They are easy to move around and pretty sturdy as long as you don't have a jumper. It was a really nice way of being able to let my puppies loll around on the grass and enjoy the outdoors in safety if I was popping into the shower or doing something else where I couldn't keep an eagle eye on them.
