My 7 month old male lab sometimes waits too long to get to the gate in the lanai or the door inside the house and then dribbles there! Doesnt bark to go out. Stands there or hits the door. Very active and drinks alot after activity. Can hold it over night in his crate no problem. Hes our third lab and never had this problem before.
Neither of my dogs 'ask' to go out - I just give them the opportunity to go out to toilet before they are desperate enough to try to figure out how to ask. Perhaps you could do that. Just take your dog out every 3 to 4 hours and give him the chance to have a pee?
I live in florida and if he drinks alot of water he runs to the door sometimes every 1/2 or hour until evening when he slows down.
Have you had him checked by a vet? Needing to wee every 1/2 hr sounds excessive altho I must admit I can't remember if 7-month-olds need to go more frequently. Excessive drinking and weeing can be a sign of diabetes. We never taught Snowie this, but since he was a puppy he rattles the key on the door (very low keyhole) to let us know he wants to go out. Not always to wee, sometimes just to go out and lie in the sun or sniff around.
Nope, never have a request to go out here either. Well.....just the thought transferance that goes on when she sits silently at the door waiting. Strangely, after 6.5 years its actually quite effective....... Thankfully Lilly has "Camel-like bladderus syndrome"
Bailey has never asked to go out either - just sits giving mr a children of the corn stare and then marches to the door for an over the shoulder children of the corn stare! I guess, like us at night their bladders slow down, but frequent trips to the toilet during the day may be worth a conversation with your vet, if nothing else to put your mind at rest.
