Pongo is going through a mega-moult. I am pulling handfuls of hair off him whenever I stroke him. The garden looks like there has been a pitched battle between two armies of rabbits, white tufts of fur EVERYWHERE. Carnage. And don't ask me about the carpets.
He'll have such a great time, be busy enjoying new smells and experiences and making new friends he'll hard know you've gone till you go back to fetch him.
Beginning to think that my dog and DT gave more in common than I'd like. H doesn't like cats coming over his wall.
Charlie is such a dog of habit - after last wee walks, he comes for a cuddle but then it's sleep time. Seemingly annoyed because we aren't ready to go to bed, he find himself a quiet spot away from the noise of the telly, people who want to keep patting him when he wants to sleep, and the puppy. At home this is his bed in the kitchen or his armchair in my study. We are away for the weekend. Late last night, as normal, grumpy sleepy Charlie wanders off to find a bit of peace - goes round and tries every armchair available (4 of them) and finds non to his liking. Then glares at OH who has to get up and move to the sofa so Charlie can have the large leather armchair which is the only one with the required level of comfort!
Yesterday at the pet shop I met a beautiful SUPER TALL ex-racing Greyhound. He was 9 years old and such a gent, leaned up on me while I cuddled him just like a Great Dane. Softest coat you've ever felt. Anyway, turns out this Greyhound lives with...wait for it...indoor rabbits. A Greyhound. And rabbits. His owner had had to buy him a new bed because the rabbits had claimed his other one. When OH said I could get a dog the first place I contacted was Greyhounds as Pets, but they had never rehomed/wouldn't rehome to a home with free range chickens because of the breed's prey drive (understandable, but I'd contacted them on the odd chance that a hound with zero prey drive existed). Well blow me down, they do exist!
Just got woken up by an the strongest earthquake I've ever felt (6.6). Haven't heard a peep from Xena in the living room, it must have woken her up, but with no noise I'm letting sleeping dogs lie. Can't hear neighbourhood dogs either, so maybe they react differently to quakes? The cats weren't impressed, but stoic old lady Daisy remained firmly planted on Dawn's bed.
I just saw this on the BBC site. Glad you are OK. Hope its not caused too much damage and people are ok....off to check it out now.....
Gosh! I did immediately think of you when I heard about the quake on the radio this morning. Glad you're OK.
My boo is back where he belongs after his weekend away. He's super nackered but was very happy see his mum All is right with the world again
It has been an exhausting and stressful week..so glad it's all over, but is has left me feeling a bit scatty, you know in a "cereal in the fridge" sort of way. So it came as no surprise when throwing a dummy, to find I had inadvertently thrown my purse instead. I had absently popped it in my game bag, hoping to pick up some chives on the way home.
Most of the time I handle the American to UK English transition just fine, but I must say that when I first read your post, I thought, "Wow, are they making tea from chickens for dogs these days?" And I love butthead dogs by the way, so big hugs to Master Stanley (and love the pics)!
I'm the one who feeds, walks, trains, and sees to the pooch's every comfort, but who does he cuddle with? Who does he adore? The OH, of course!!!
I love that Coco let me have a TWO hour lie-in this morning when OH had to go to work. The both of us just slept in....a proper lazy Sunday morning.
