I think we need the recipe, I've never heard of golden syrup in truffles? May I also suggest gingerbread and ANZAC biscuits, nom nom.
You haven't lived until you've gone for a dog walk when it's -11C with a wind chill of -25C. If you are bundled up it's not so bad when the wind is at your back but when you are walking into the wind...
That Alberta weather! I used to live there. Sooooo cold. I have a sister out in Calgary who I visit sometimes but I try to avoid it during the winter
Took Xena to my local Park Run circuit this morning. We walked to the 1km marker and back in 45 mins, which gives you an idea of how much sniffing was involved We only met a few people, but the one dog we met was - you guessed it - an obese chocolate Lab.
I'll take my damp dreary morning..it's 5.8°C with a wind chill of 4.1°C, which is considered a tad chilly here. Can't stand extreme heat OR cold....just waiting for it to get light enough.
Brrrr...I can't even imagine the cold (as I sit here with the air-conditioning on). My dad did some work in Yellowknife a few years ago and I remember him trying to explain how cold it was. It was a little hard to compare to a "cold" 10 degree morning in Melbourne.
It's this recipe: http://www.greatbritishchefs.com/recipes/peanut-caramel-truffle-recipe Except, I can't get glucose, so I use golden syrup. Except, I now can't get golden syrup.... They are amazing! I pretty much double the salt, though. YUMMY! I'm making them with home-grown almonds this time. I made my own almond butter to put in them instead of PB.
Corn syrup is glucose syrup but not all glucose syrup is corn syrup Other types of glucose syrups are made from potatoes, wheat etc. The caramel filling is delicious and there's a very large chance that I might eat it all before I get the chance to make it into truffles!
Is it strange to want to dance about because your dog does solid poos. Its nice and cold here i haven't been run over by a kid on a schooter or seen a flasher for ages.
Loving my dogs loads and loads at the moment. Shadow has met three strange dogs, two of them boys (the third such a fluffy thing I couldn't tell!), in the last three days and hasn't had an issue with any of them. Recalled perfectly from them all and ignored them afterwards, even the bouncy young Irish setter we met this evening. He even looked slightly disdainful. That's mah boy!
Yesterday Pongo actually STOPPED AND CAME BACK when Paul whistled for him, in the middle of a dash towards another dog!!!! We were so flabbergasted we poured the entire contents of the treats bag down his throat. I am ignoring the fact that he utterly ignored my "Pongo-pongo-pongo". You can't have everything.
Guilty!! It was a chilly -7 this morning where I am in BC. Brrr. Axel doesn't seem phased. He wants out all the time now that it's cold
Quinn put one paw on the small covering of snow on the deck, and was like "no, thank you, I shall remain indoors"
Nathan is crawing - no, how did that happen? Ella is obviously a brilliant teacher, but did she show him how to chew the box too? x
