She looks so cute, and I see she has lots of toys and it's not even Christmas yet. I especially like the last picture, she looks so comfortable
Thanks guys. Sorry for the silence.... sammy settled to sleep in her crate at 10 and so I left her to it and went upstairs to bed. She slept through until I went down to take her out at 2am. After putting her back in she whined and yapped a lot so after 15 minutes I waited for her to pause and went in. I sat next to the crate and just stroked her and shushed her and she settled straight down and went to sleep. She slept through until I went down at 6 am. So she did really well. But unfortunately I didn't! I was up from 2am with nausea and vomiting! She has been so good this morning as I really wasn't well. And we've both slept a lot. Thankfully it's eased since lunch time. Not the easiest of starts with a new puppy! We've got into a bit of a rhythm of 45-60 mins sleep (she often wakes at 30 minutes but if I'm near will go back to sleep) followed by 15 mins outside (she had done all her toileting outside so far I can't believe it!) and then half an hour playing inside and another 15 mins of either food or something like getting used to the vacuum cleaner! So it's been an eventful first 24 hours!
Yes! I had thought about the name Aslan (yes as in the CS Lewis stories). But it's not a girls name. But I would love for her to grow into a dog with characteristics of courage and gentleness. So Sammy (meaning listener). Simba as in the Swahili for lion (having spent lots of time in Tanzania where the name is used for people both male and female too). So "listening lion". She is growing into her name already as she is quite confident and a definite biter! She's pretty good at listening but that will definitely need to be practiced where as the biting seems to come ever so naturally!
Oh, I feel for you! When I brought Willow home, my husband and I both had upset tummies for a day or so. It was awful!
